kingsuv Posted June 18, 2008 Report Share Posted June 18, 2008 I need to ask a off topic question, sorr DRdb what would cause my garage light switch (that turns on all my shop lights) to suddenly flip upside down? It has Always always always been up for on, down for off (like normal) but one day, for no reason, and no one else in my house brave or smart enough to play the joke, my light switch is now UP for off and Down for on. WTF???? Pull the switch. I think it might have to do with the ground coming loose and touching the neutral causing it to back feed..... or something like that. I had a new home where something was hot that wasn't supposed to be. Of course you can just get the belt an whip the kids for fuckin witcha. It happend though and i cant explain it. Man if this is really happening and you still haven't got it figured out, I would go ahead and change it out for safety. To my knowledge its just not possible, even if it was messed up. Pull it out anyway and make sure it is a single pole switch. Once in a while have seen people install a 3-switch were a single pole goes becuase we ran out of single poles and wasn't worth going back to the shop for. If thats the case it could be going bad. meade916 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Share Posted June 18, 2008 You might want to get that checked out before your house burns down... well condidering its in a metal housing and you dont get shocked and there is no sparks......it all works fine, i dont think the house is going to burn from it. Of course if i hit the switch and it sparks i know there is a problem. The only problem is that it reversed itself somehow....
