I rock 4 15" Type R's on 3k daily & I must agree with you, the SQ is somewhat lacking. BUT THEY FUCKIN KNOCK. Just about every woofer has the potential to sound like arse if installed incorrectly. took the words right off my fingertips. for one, i dont know anyone running Type R's around here....but the few i have had experience with got loud and sounded good doing it. The people who had them knew how to build boxes though. Just like all subs you have to know what your doing and you cant base the SQ of a sub off one crap install or even 3. Find someone who knows what they are doing and any sub can sound pretty damn good. Find someone who sucks and they can make any sub sound like ASS. The only thing i didnt like about the Type R's was watching at least 2 come unglued at the surround and start flopping around in the box. From what i hear that isnt a problem any more. j_black10 Posted June 19, 2008 Report Share Posted June 19, 2008 I had 4 type R 12s in my explorer and til this day I say they were the 2nd best setup I've had. The only thing that was better was my Q 18s. Those type Rs put out some of the most accurate bass that I've ever heard and I've heard ALOT of subs.
