so I go up to a shop to get my shit metered today. I got the 2 sundown E8s right behind the front seats and the guy tells me its not gonna do anything just about 5 times. so he sticks the meter in the window while all of them are down.... laughs and says it scored a 52......that doesnt sound right. so i tell him to put it on the dash and let me roll all the windows up. he says it improved by 2 dbs and now its 54. This really doesnt sound right to me. i looked up online that 60 db is about normal conversation and a misquitoes buzz is around 40. I have no experience with metering so I didnt want to be a dick to the guy, but can someone enlighten me with whether this looks right or not?

wow ambient noise in a shop with a vehicle running with normal pipes is usually around 110-120 db in my experience so I would have to say hes fucking with you or his shit is wayyyyyy off!

what meeter, the termlab , audio control or boom stick? if it was a termlab then myfriend you need mo powa... if it was the audio control then it needs a major recalabration done to the unit to make it accurate again.....

thanks guys definitely a little more re-assured now. it wasnt a term lab....I was expecting to pull my car into the shop but he came out with a hand held one. Idk if this is exactly it, but it looked very similar to this...PHONIC_PAA2.jpg

i hope you didnt pay the guy to meter with that thing

the guy told me over the phone it was gonna be 40 bucks for an hour but it took him 5 minutes to give me that bs reading and laugh and tell me it wouldnt do anything. So no in the end I didnt pay.....but ya better believe if I did I would have ran for a full hour till that shit started reading right haha.

I wouldn't even waste my time with them, it should be over a 100 EASILY. I highly doubt he knew what he was doing, there is alot to meters... i had to read the whole owners manual and dick with our audiocontrol for awhile till I got the hang of it.
