It is interesting that you say that because in Reason, I use compressors and maximizers in my songs and continue to further develop them to get the loudest clearest sound out of my mix. On a particular note, the Maximizer in Reason, has a non-clipping green window of -db(s) up to 0db and beyond that are red +db(s) in which the audio would be clipping. Those rap artists you've named do have more bass in the mix, than what would be desired.(desired, i can never get enough bass and i desire rappers like them so i can bassrace/burb music) Why, because the average sound system has some form of higher bass volume than what was recorded. (and almost anyone would do horrible on an rta cause few can get equal levels from all notes) For example, Joe Blow goes to the studio, drops a track with lots of high volume bass, then sells it to a dude who has amps and woofers that put out way more sound than what was created in the studio, like 4 or 5 times more bass volume not to mention the higher gain on the amps. I'm sorry but I do not make music for a 6x9 to do a 12" woofer's job. (Check sigs/members before u say joe blow cause i dont consider myself one nor do the others that responded... bigpimpin, derrick, mrwiggelz, lance kindly to a track u made that we were nice enough to listen to and download) Now I will go back and check my levels, but I'm going for overall sound quality not just bass and bass alone, because I'm sure we've all heard those beatup cars trying to play Three Six Mafia on 6.5" or 3" speakers, sounding like they are about to short out. (i do believe i play a couple three 6 songs at 143db on a 15"... not much but its not what ur saying, and the bass was recorded to be that loud from the studio to the cd) I mean do you really think they use 10,000 watts in a studio as well as 8 15"s? (yes, ive been in two studios, one with qsc/crown amps on klipsch audio and the other i have no idea but both were ~$30,000+ in sound equipment) No, because it's about the quality of the mix, not how loud a mix can be. (How are we suppose to convey quality music over digital cam vids?)

And on a side note Audacity's db meter, the square shaped windows with the blue line that you can switch from horizontal to vertical, goes up to 0 db. (i was refering to plot spectrum after u highlight less then 23 seconds of audio, change to 16384, then log and checking db there)

This is not really fair...

Not really complaining on anything but ofcorse someone with alot more money invested is going to be louder.

It should be based on a persons system cost or something. cuz someone who spends $10k vs someone who spends $1k... well we all know how it looks...

My system is under $1500 but it gets decently loud.

Ill make a video of it tomorrow and see what this song does if anything...

I thought the same thing brandon it made me think of arab music but I looked at that first song and it looked clipped to me...

that second one is clipped real bad too :S

edit: is this right or is my junk broke? now audacity doesnt show clipping..... wow.. some1 check this...
