Dropping Below 1 Ohm

Recommended Posts

I have two Fi q's dual one ohm wired at 1 ohm, and one T20001bd. The amp at hi volumes goes into protect mode at hard bass notes. It doesn't stay in protect mode it just does it for a second, but throughout the whole song. I can strap the subs at 4 ohms but I'll be under powering the subs big time. Its annoying and I would really like to know if theirs a fix for it.

I would put a meter on the amp and see what the impedance is while playing. Im not sure if I can recall impedance lowering on a sub ever. I have only heard of impedance rise. It could be going into protect from lack of sufficient current/electrical issues.

Why do you have a 300amp alt and a stock battery get a some kinetik, powermaster, or stinger.... You need a high performance battery as much as a high performance alt.

Will do. Is this the reason for the protect cutting on?

ETA: I was told that the amp only draws from the alt, while the car is on.

could very well be the reason....for your battery could be discharginq quicker than the alt can charge it ;)

Umm does your car disengage the battery while its running? That statement is false. the amp is going to draw through the batteries while its running also. Your electrical is only as strong as its weakest componant... this being your battery.
