Yeah only way that is flexing is to much surface area and no bracing

BIRCH 11 layer plywood is hands down the best stuff

MDF is good if your painting something, but its to heavy, and is supposed to be, what, 1/3rd the strength as birch ply?

and its LIGHT!

My 18" tline box is all 1 layer, does NOT flex, and I could pick it up over my head, and its 49"x24"x 14" tall

go figure

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

so youre trying to say mdf boxes are pure shit?

x2. pretty much looks like a poorly braced box isn't good for subs. This is why i overbuild the hell out of my boxes.

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

Its on the old meter. Im talking to him on IM he seems to be a cool cat.

So its still pretty loud either way.

he says the shop that built the box told him they used 11 layer Birch

It looks like a tough box, and them subs are straight up wanging off that 2500.1. You can clearly see the box hopping and moving around, that is what is making it look like its flexing, but its not, nor is it secured down otherwise it wouldnt be moving around.

Part of it is that the box isnt bolted down so its hopping off the ground. He showed me some build pics and they only used one layer on top with zero bracing. I think hes gonna add a second layer some all thread bolt the box in and resin the corners.

So I am willing to bet dollars to donuts that the box is flexing, and not just hopping around.
