Like Aaron said the transmissions can be a problem, my friend just replaced his at 130k but like he said it all depends on how its driven, he drives like an ass. But all in all a very good truck. if i remember correctly dodge doesnt have the right to the cummins engines anymore. Ford bought it back in like 05 i believe but the contract with dodge didnt end until like this year or next year ..... E-Train Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 If your looking for a cummins and wanna make easy power, go for a 95-97.5 12 Valve, 5 Speed, those motors have no computer so if u wanna build power and blow smoke, you just install an adjustable boost nipple, and get someone that knows what they are doing to install a high flow rate restrictor plate into the pump, but remember in that year range the 12 valves came with 2 different pump sizes, the manuals had the big pump, and the automatics the small, and if your wanting a automatic and wanna switch it over to a big pump youll be lucky to get out with no more than 1500 bucks. Bolth are strong imo, but i would get a manual if possible.

I'll agree with e-train. the older 12v can make siiiick power. newer diesel dually burnout if anybody wants to take a look.
