True Trunk Car Doing A Hairtrick

Recommended Posts

It's okay Gary. A hair trick doesn't really prove that a car is loud or not. You have to be tuned really low inorder to pull off hair tricks. I've seen a car that only did 144's out of the trunk do a hairtrick with no problems. He was peaking at 37hz and still doing that kind of number. It was pretty cool too see, but I'd rather have my car quite a bit louder instead of being able to do a hair trick. A guy that was a member of Team Roadquake named Brian had a Dodge Dakota with 2 Audio Pulse 12's off of 2 American Bass 100.1's and was doing maybe a 145 at best could flex the back window in the truck at least an inch and do hair tricks all day long. Both of these lower spl vehicles I've seen were fun to listen to, but they weren't really all that loud. What you're doing in your ride is way more impressive than pulling a hair trick out of a trunk car.

being able to pull a hair trick off in a trunk car is no joke, im sure if you cant do it not to many can, that are true trunk cars...ive seen a few, but i wouldnt call them trunk cars there like drews (back seat is a sub box but still functional) or hella port thru the rear deck, still i dont classify those as a trunk car

It doesn't matter what you classify as a trunk car, if the sub box is in the trunk its a trunk car. If the box comes out into where the back seat is then no I wouldn't calssify it as a trunk car, but when the entire enclosure is in the trunk and even ported through the rear deck it's a trunk car like it or not. Trunks can get loud, you just have to know how to get the wave out of the trunk and to the listener. You should check out the trunk stock class in NSPL. There is a guy there that holds the world record named Steve Sears with 2 15's in the trunk of a Caviler doing 153's at the dash just like db drag. Not to mention Mike Stiers that now works at Maxxsonics. He had a Neon with a trunk enclosure that was strictly for spl in street B doing 154's. 154's out of the trunk is way more impressive than a hair trick. Those cars are considered trunks any way you look at it.

Yes, I could do a mild hair trick in the Stratus when the 2 10's were in there. Not a full hair raping like a walled vehicle will do, but it would make hair stand up a bit on the right notes. I'll see if I have a video laying around.

Setup was 2 DD 9510's in a folded horn, tuned to 34hz on 4 Sundown SAZ-1500D's. All equipment was in the trunk.
