Neo_frog
I'm currently building a horizontal clam shell. I've been doing it all at work, so I haven't been able to start a build thread or post pics, but I ran into an issue... I'm bracing the baffles with all thread 'outside' the box (inside the clamshell V), but they are obviously angled and the all thread goes straight up and down through them. I have all the nuts and washers for it, but I dont know how to tighten the nuts down without the gaps. I can cut little wood pieces to flush it out, but I just don't see that as looking clean. Kind of an eye sore if you will. Does anybody have a way I can do this maintaining a clean look? I am stumped and I can't post pics cause I'm at work building it. EDIT: And if you post a pic of how yours was done, I can't see that either until I get home Edited December 1, 2008 by Neo_frog Quote Need an install? ptcary
Sorry, you are outta my league on this one! Maybe Assman or KingSuv will post up. I know both of them have some sort of visible bracing, but I'm not sure on the angle problem. Good luck with it....did you tear out the tunnel? Noob_On_Droid
Mine is a much smaller scale, but I have a good size washer and the nut pushed one side just a bit into the wood and doesn't look THAT bad. How thick is your baffle??

How thick is your baffle?? 3/4" MDF. It's not a super power build, but it needs bracing. I could probably get away with 2x4s and screws, but what if I upgrade ya know? Quote Need an install? But remember I said these are all trial builds for (A) my experience and ( find the perfect PT setup. I'm not even keeping the car all that long but why not build like crazy right? kingsuv
You can oval out the holes to better align the all thread. Then use caulking under the washer and nut to give it an airtight seal Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.

Charger
I still prefer pine 2x4 on the inside of the enclosure cut at angles. Very strong. But threaded rod still works good just get it to pull nice and square! wL<3bass
Dunno if they make these tye washers any larger but it would work....I dunno if you have ever adjusted bicycle brakes but they use special washers so that you can adjust the angle of your brakes to fit properly against you rim....they are like a cup and the other one fits into them and can swivel.
