How much has the economy affected you this year?

I've gone from seeing $700-1000 checks every two weeks... down to $300-500. Shit is getting bad around here, and it isn't just us. I know/have worked with at least one person at all the shops around here, and it's the same for them. Last year right now when I came to work in the morning there would be 10cars waiting in the parking lot at 9am... now we haven't even been getting any cars till 10 or 11. I only work part time and don't really depend on my checks that much, but fuck I feel sorry for the full time guys I work with trying to support a family.

I don't know if the industry is just dieing that much, the scare of the big 3 auto makers shutting down, or the economy is just that shitty.

A shop here is just putting the finishing touches on a $50k Alpine Status F1# install in a Merc CL65 AMG but in general I agree...

A lot less custom work is coming through the shops here. Also the show scene has died off big time which has a follow-on effect on the shops.

Still a reasonable number of cookie-cutter headunit/fronts installs and the odd person that wants some bass but it's definitely slowed down a lot.

Oh well. Hopefully it'll pick up somewhat in the new year.

I'm waiting on a job at a local shop here. The guy said as soon as he needs another person or one of his guys quits he's going to bring me in. I've worked in the industry for 3 years and have pleanty of knowledge, but there are no jobs to put my ability to work.

Its hard to tell around by us.

It has died down a little bit, but stay pretty booked daily.

The reason I say its hard to tell is becuase of the cold and snow, there are 75% more installs for remote starters and keyless entry around this time of year. We also have speicals that the corp companies cant hang with such as best buy. This is the first winter with the new best buy, but things seem steady, down a bit but steady.
