Advice Being Given...

I've personally had to correct people giving out wrong advice. I didn't abuse them but I did correct them and point them in the right direction. It's not their fault, they are trying their best to help (Alot of people just skip the thread and don't help out, atleast they are giving it a go.)

Hell even back when I was a lil n00b (I still don't know enough now) I used to dish out incorrect advice to people without knowing.

I don't really know where this post is going, but the best way to help the situation is to point out and explain the right answer, that way not just one person learns, many do.

As for the

posts. They annoy me greatly. New threads are what keeps the forum growing!

I have spent a little time looking around at some of the advice thats been given on this site...and for the most part its good.The problem I'm having is that some of the non professionals are giving some advice thats just plain wrong..how to's,electrical, etc..There are plenty of pro's on this site to ask for help..I know that when you ask a question there is instantly 50 answers..but most are not even close to right...as for the people that keep bashing people for asking here and not(googleing it)..what gives,if someone has a legit question..put it up,this is a audio forum we should not be running every one off to google.Lets stop with the bashing of people looking for answers to good questions...to the other side of the coin...think hard before you ask question on here..do a little research,odds are its been asked a few times already.Thanks guys.

If you see the wrongness....as someone who knows better, you should (& please do) step in and (politely/reasonably) help pull that persons head out they' asss.

This is a great thread and its a good way to look at things.

I know I don't help out alot around here, beacuse well I never really take the time to and I should. I may not be the most knowledgeable person around here but I usually know where or how to find the answer.

I hate to go on a rant but from what I can see there's a lot of stuff being posted up recently by people that really don't know what they're talking about.

I know most of them are trying to be helpful but at the end of the day it amounts to bad advice, it's putting people wrong and potentially wasting their time and their money - what if someone blew up their gear or built a box all wrong because of advice you gave them?

Nobody knows everything - I'm the first to admit there's a lot of gaps in my own knowledge - but because of that if I'm not fairly certain in what I'm talking about I don't post stuff! There's enough experts on here in individual fields to give pretty good advice on almost anything - that's what makes this place great - but recently there's been a lot of people chiming in with comments that are either completely wrong or advice that is totally baseless. A lot of the time I know they're just repeating what they have seen elsewhere but often it's not quite right for the particular situation.

There's no point in throwing names around - anyone that reads this will probably know whether or not they're guilty of it or not.

I'm just saying, before you post, ask yourself if you're reasonably certain that what you're about to add is accurate!

thats why i NEVER reply with advice unlees it something i personally know is right lol i always get scared that pepole givin me advice are fuckin with me but i know if alot of pepole agree chances are its right lol

I couldn't agree more! I just finished reading a topic where someone wanted to know how to wire 2 Sony amps to one sub. The next reply basically said how overrated those amps are. How did that comment help him or answer his question?

i am by far no expert but i know alot of shit. and when im not entirely sure i always follow up with please correct me if i am wrong so other people can tell me whether or not i am right.

id like to add something tho if i may... the bashing of things needs to stop... yes sony sux and so does pyle but who gives a shit. if that is wut someone has or wants then it is their right to get that and set it up correctly right? /endshortrant
