pokertramp Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 I had a guy at car toys arguing with me about DAT, said there was no such brand. and I asked him "so because you've never heard of it it doesn't exist?" also the same guy that said there was no way in hell my subs are only getting 300rms, he got in the back of my car looking for hidden amps...lol...gotta love know-it-alls Something similar, I knew a guy who had 3 Earthquake Magma 12's with 3 Magma 12 passive radiator subs. He had one amp, 2 batteries and I high current alt. That thing nearly made my ears bleed. He said he was pushing around 155 db if I remember. I looked for hidden stuff in his car too, lol.
enemyofsilence Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 i dont go to many audio shops but when i do they dont know what re, dc, dd are. they always want to sell jl or alpine or kenwood. they need money and overprice the names that people know like jl. Team Bass-Hz

DC POWER
doug118 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I'm from Rhode Island and there isn't a single car audio shop worth even walking into. To be 1000% honest, I'd rather go to Best Buy for an install then the best shop in my state 2001 Tahoe. Boon Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 There are 2 types of people you'll meet at a shop... salesmen and true stereo nuts. The salesman will tell you whatever he has to to make a sale, the other guy won't. One thing though, you guys love to rag on shops for not knowing about what are, realistically, incredibly obscure boutique brands. How many Sony Xplods do you think sell per year compared to Fi BTLs? You can't even expect them to know about the small, mostly internet based brands - they have hardly any actual distributors etc so there's no reason for the shops to even know about them. Most shops have like 3 brands and that's all they know, but you can be damn sure that if you get the non-salesman they'll know far more about that particular gear than you ever will. The guy who owns the shop I work at was telling me about how he gets kids trying to tell him how stuff should be done, just from reading the internet, it's like.. "So, how many installs have you done in your life? 10? Yeah I did that many yesterday, come back after you've installed 1000 sets of components and we'll see who can make them sound better then huh?" 10.x volts fo' life!
badcayne Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 me and my friend were in a local shop looking for some subs to do a blow through in his truck. this one shop sells nothing but JL,Arc Audio,MB Quart,Diamond Audio(the top of the line stuff). well he starts rambling on on how good JL is and qouted my friend almost 8K!!!for four 13W7s and two 1000/1s.then stated that "JL is the best product on the market and no other comany could touch what JL can do" and thats where i busted out laughing my ass off. then i asked him " if Image Dynamics,Fi,DD,Treo,RE,DC etc were cheap-O products" he just stared at me with this blank look on his face and asked what are they?

Not to talk shit but i barely know about them and im on the forum. Honestly what do you expect from some random douche in a shop? J. JMy CardomainFINISHED COBALT SS/SC DUAL ALTERNATOR PICS theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer
Brick2560 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Everyone always tells me their memphis 1000watt subs could beat any so called "Wal-mart" subs (Sundown, Fi, DC) "Buy some shit, Build some shit, Bang some shit!" - Dr. DB Joe owns my soul. Refs: Duct_Tape123, Derrick824

To be 1000% honest, I'd rather go to Best Buy for an install then the best shop in my state Have you ever heard of Ultimate Audio in Fall River Massachusetts? That place is a joke. All he sells is junk and from what I have heard, stolen equipment. I also heard he makes his own speakers, slaps a sticker on them and calls it done. My friend got 2 Audiobahn subs and when he played them one fell apart right away. There was 3 dabs of glue holding it together and the guy almost didn't replace it. Beware of this place.
