99vic
being that dat was mentioned. i have a question? looking at other amps and the 8.1 why is the board so small? i noticed that it looked small when bill showed it to me when i picked up my 1000.1 but forgot to ask. REST IN PARADISE BIG RICH (Sqmonte) never forgotten Why do you guys ALWAYS dispute on NUMBERS????? It's such a played out argument, so fucking annoying.... It's 12 fuckin 15's.... David
are you serious? we made it small so the amp could fit in a vehicle and still have some space small footprint FTW
Kicker Guy
are you serious? we made it small so the amp could fit in a vehicle and still have some space small footprint FTW Smaller amps are great when tight on space, like my current setup I don't have much room in the back. Maybe next build I will have to give that 8.1 a run and see how I like it Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P6000UB Sub Amp:American Bass VFL 500.1 Subs: 4 Fi BL 18's Enclosure:21.5 Cubic foot flat wall tuned to 40 hz Batteries: 3 Kinetik 2400's in the back, Kinetik 1200 under hood. sound xtreme
i have run the 500.1 for years. they are one of the most bullet proof amps on the market. whether its new or old technology is irrelevant- it is PROVEN technology. I will still take my FOUR 8.1's (soon to be over any other amp i have ever used (and that is almost all of them). there is something about running 40K on regular music that "makes my willie wang". when you are trying to buy any amp to this proportion from any company, customer service and warranty should be key factors. Not many will warranty these amps due to the nature of which they are used. I would rather pay a little more knowing that if it blows, it will be fixed without costing a small fortune(i have seen big amps like this burn out the boards making them unrepairable) 1997 Astro front:6 sets of T3 componets Subs: 8 level 5 18"s (building 6th order BP) Amps: 4 really big ones (totalling just shy of 50K) Batts: Alt: Ohio Generator 1996 Chevy Suburban Sub amp: A fifth really big amp Subwoofer: 2-15" DC Level 4 XL Batts: C&D high rate--(x4)
raytard
for my .02, the zapco is the sexiest stacked amp... i like the warhorse though, not only does it do obscene amounts of power (10k+ at 2ohms at 14.4 volts, and 90% or so effeciency), but it does it in a legitimately innovative way that i'm sure will trickle down to smaller amps in the coming years (it has no output section...if you know amps you know how wrong that is...it even comes with a dvd explaining how its different, how it actually works, and how to install the thing...how many amps have you seen that come with their own informational movie? audiofanaticz
I have played with my 500.1 at .25 before, it takes it just fine for a burp. Never clapped it or anything tho so I have no idea of power that low. I don't imagine the gain was all that great but still nice to beat on amps sometimes lollol!I thought about dropping my 150.1 down to .2 at the show sunday. LOL Im still debating if I want to see that magic smoke tho

basshead4life
What about this? now they should put 4 of them under one heat sink to make a 40000 watt amp! id sell everyhing i own just to buy one and i'd never use it. id just stare at it forever until i died. Team S.M.D. Maritime Car Audio- (2) 18" SSA ZCON D1 - American Bass 500.1 - 60 ft of 3/0 -480 Ah of battery - (2) stock alternators (70 +90) - Kenwood Excelon x-794, 4v preouts car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. (if that confuses you then you get the point) lol
