If money is a concern try buying a rebuild kit for your alt that ups the output, they are around a $100-150 and will put you around 200a. Other than that you can see if they make a MLA module for your Armada. Check with MechMan, he sold me three HO alts for around $700 total (two for my truck and one for my car).

First thing you need to do is the Big 3 cause if you do get a bigger alt you will not be able to transport the extra power anyway.

yeah thats true i forgot to tell you to try the big 3 also cause it maybe could help some

I have 2 Crossfires VR1000D and 1 VR404.

I had the same problem you are having now, with a voltage meter on the battery i would go as low as 12.0 and the amp would cut. I had all amps on 4 gauge wiring all around. i was fed up with it and ran 2 separate runs of 1/0 for each amp and also switched to 1/0 grounds for the VR1000D's only. I hooked up all the connections checked voltage on my alt, battery, and amp and they all read 14.2, so i blasted the music and it wold dip to about 13.2(While music is loud) and 12.9 on the real low sustained bass lines. I have a 04 Tahoe with stock 120 amp alternator. Try jumping over to 1/0 power and grounds on your big amp. It made a difference in my truck. Now i just have to finish the Big 3.

Good Luck!

So I have a Nissan Armada with stock alt with a xs power d5100r battery as my main supply. I have a sundown audio sae 1200 amp powering a 15 fi bl. Im running 4 gauge wire. The gain is a little over half way up. Now this is where my problem is. When I turn the bass up my voltage drops tremendously fast and then the amp shuts off or at least the sub cuts out for about 5seconds. While this is going on the protection light blinks when bass hits (not real bright). My lights, when on, almost go completely out. Im fixing to do the big 3 with 1/0 wire but I just don't believe thats going to fix my problem.

My last setup before was a RFt1 10 and an Alpine type R with a RF t3002 amp rated at 250x2. This setup actually almost out beats the Fi with 1200 rms with very little light dimming.

Any ideas what could be my problem? Also the car is cranked while this is happening.

I thought that was good for 2000 watts of support being used under the hood?

this is not right.

a d5100 should be able to power that system alone with truck off for a good awhile.

Yeah I thought it would support it also. So I am doing the big three in 1/0 and then I am running all new terminals. Also I am grounding the amp to a better spot. The old spot looks kinda crappy so... Also I just recieved my DC power 275 amp alt. Mainly for my future system. So I should see no drop after all this....
