Tek
I have a motorized flip out in dash HU in my car. When it is open, the screen is in front of 2 vents. It worries me sometimes that the constant hot or cold air may harm the head unit, and I don't have an exta $500 laying around if it breaks. Is this bad for the radio or do I have nothing to worry about? Thanks, Sam

Tek
I'm 17 and got it for a birthday present so it's nowhere near top of the line. It's a Dual Audio XDVD-8181
audiofanaticz
It should be alright. If your really that concerned about it, just flip the vent closed that it is in front of. Most headunits get very hot inside the dash just from the ducting for your heat/ac and they still work fine.
Basshead08
Before mine got stolen, it was the same deal. Right in front of my vents when it was opened but never caused a problem. raytard
it should be fine, i've never ever seen a screen freeze or melt. hell, i rarely even see a screen go out period. dont worry about it, but afaik dual is gone, so when it dies its time for an upgrade. SQMonte
maybe you should close the vents directly behind the screen when it's flipped out Quote Alpine CDA-117...Memphis 16-X03 CDT Audio SQA-4100...SEAS Prestige H1396...Crescendo MP-6 Soundstream Rubicon 1.2500d...Digital Designs 3512f
audiofanaticz
maybe you should close the vents directly behind the screen when it's flipped out I think I said that already? LoL Also in my caddy with my flipout headunit, right in front of the vents too. never caused an issue with it.
Nightshade
The only thing that I'd be worried about is that it's a Dual. Other than that your good. I actually think that because it's in front of a vent putting out cool air that is a plus. It will help keep the components inside the screen cool and stop them from overheating. I don't see a problem with that at all.
