majorpayne
Well i got a new truck so i decided today to start pullin the system out of the old truck. i unscrew my powerbass 3000d and i hear something rattling around inside of it. so i decide to open it up and see what it is. this is what it looked like when i opened it up. So im like WTF is this so grab them and see that two of the capacitors i guess broke off from the solder's on the board. Sooo it looks like im not gettin any beat in the truck for a while, kinda sucks but o well what can you do. Good thing is i have an amplifier repair shop ten minutes from my house so ill take it to them on monday and see what they can do. UPDATE::::Well i got it back from the shop today and they want to charge me 225 to fix it, apparently when the caps came off they shorted out the fets and blew all 10 on the input side. i dunno what to do, i think im gonna send it off to texas to a repair shop called DB-r. with shipping both ways i should still come out on top. The link to his website is www.db-r.com this sucks tho. FVCK powerbass and their cold ass soldering irons. Chris
Somebody should E-Mail MTX & PB about their capacitors wanting to suddenly just break off their amps... Shouldn't be a huge issue to fix & I personally would do it myself. majorpayne
Id say it happened from being mounted on the front of the box next to the btl, but with 6 cubes behind the seats its not to easy trying to find a mounting spot for a 30 inch long amp. also this is the second time a solder has broken on me with this amp, the first one you had to smack the amp to get it working and it would play for about five minutes and die on you. audiofanaticz
http://www.ciaengineering.com/index_files/Page718.htm Cia Engineering does outstanding work at cheap prices. I had 7 mosfets fried and it only costed me 90 bucks with shipping. They also tested my amp over the weekend at a .7 ohm load with no probloms.
