Mosin
How well do the corners fair in square and triangular subs? I just cant imagine that theyd hold up too well at high excursion. I just get this image in my head of a square sub ripping its self apart and flopping everywhere. As long as they were designed right, they won't rip apart or flex 'wrong' That is with the square subs. Don't care much for triangles. Some companies make pretty bunk square subs. No technology went into the corners. I believe MTX tried, yet failed. lol This You fail Derp.
HHR Ed
And it was done in a modified van in a wall with alot of power... Yes, Team Eastgate. They have an Extreme car. They did compete in extreme 2, but from my recollection they did not break 170db until they moved up to extreme 3+. I could be wrong though. HHR Ed
The main issue with square subs has always been the corners. They move at different tension rates than the straight sides. A round woofer's surround will have consistent tension all the way around. The square surround can tension problem can cause non-linear cone movement as well as varying loads on the cone edge. So linearity and consistent durability is an issue. Kicker has come up with a great solution for the cones and a pretty good solution for the surrounds. But it is far from perfect. That is why even with more cone area, square subs still have trouble keeping up with the top performing round woofers. They just cant move as much while remaining linear. Boon
^^^^^^^^^This, it wouldnt be too farfetched to do mid to upper 170's with an extreme car, just get a CRX put a wall with 2 SoloX 18's in it, and fill every crevice in that bitch with concrete and weld/bolt the doors shut. Aaaaaaaand you'll get about a 160. CRXs aren't great wall cars. They're great no-wall cars or Street class cars. "Mid to upper 170's" is not a matter of just throwing some gear in a concrete car... 10.x volts fo' life!
BigPimpin91
When you have 24 woofers with 15,000watts+ its not hard to get loud.... Lol And IIRC, when he switched to 12 of the Soundstream 15's, he gained quite a bit. BigPimpin91's Banging Music
