I started digging into my engine again today. Not all of these pics are from today, and some of them may have already been posted in the log, but here's a little recap of the progress of the engine that I've made.

New gasket set to go in

Who needs A/C when you can have a second stock alternator?

Pulled the valve cover off

Forgot to get a pic of when I pulled the cams out, but here are the cams

And here are the lifters. Each in their own ziplock bag and numbered so they all go back where they belong.

Off comes the fender, need to get to the timing cover

Serpentine belt off and tensioner pulley off

Drained the oil and coolant then pulled off the whole intake setup

With the oil and coolant drained, I pulled off the intake and exhaust manifolds and the fuel rail

My snail - Garrett T-25, little baby turbo.

Then it was finally time for the head... Bam, nothing but block!

Here's a comparison of the old head gasket to the new one... Old and busted, to the new hotness.

And here's my favorite part of the car: The 9000 Aero 5 speed transmission that was swapped into it.

Haha, no, thanks. I'll probably have this thing for quite a while. It'll hold me over until I get my XLs. Then it'll go back in the house as part of my surround sound system.

I like that trunk lid idea...you could fit a hella box in the trunk with the lid like that.

I absolutely love my 9000, but it's such a pain in the ass to work on.

Yeah, huge spring hinges that go into the trunk area are for the lose. I don't understand why they don't use the hinge/lift cylinder style, like the Oldsmobile Intrigue has, for every car.

UPDATE!

Started putting some time into the Saab lately. I think I have a busted crank or a snapped connecting rod though... So it'll be a while until it's back on the road, as now it needs a whole new bottom end.

Anyway, I haven't given up, it's just a minor setback. I'll yank the motor right out of it and rebuild the whole damn thing. In the meantime I did run some speaker wires.

Just a couple feet of wires, lol. Care to guess how much?

Then I ran a set of RCAs. I ran them along the ceiling to keep them as far away from the power wires as possible.

Then I started on getting the wires into the doors. 8 runs of speaker wire into each door, but no usable wire looms to use, so I had to improvise.

That's what needs to get into the doors

Here's how I did it.

Started with cutting a hole into the door. As you can see, I tried to do it before and failed, so I had to fill the hole in with some expanding foam. This time I'm doing it right.

Used 3/4" conduit connectors and a bicycle inner tube to create the new looms.

Then I ran the wires through the hole used for the side marker light's wires. So the wires go into the fender now. Used a little expanding foam to keep it sealed.

Then I put in a conduit connector.

then I ran all 8 wires through it. Talk about a tight fit.

There they are in the door.

Same thing on the driver's side.

Then I put the amp and crossovers in the back.

Crossovers tucked away nicely.
