Chode69
I didn't say they won't play music. And if a properly designed 8inch spider work with a 4inch coil, why hasn't nobody really done it yet? I'm sure smart people have tried instead of spending 100k on tooling new full line of frames. I didn't say it won't work, cause it will. Just not "great". Just my opinion. I won't buy a 8inch spider 4inch coil sub. Period. But this is ME, not you or everybody else. so because some people attempting it and didn't pull it off well doesn't mean someone else cant do it. Mr. Darkjustice
inverting almost always lowers score if your box is already the right size inverting doesn't increase cooling he asked what would keep it kool and i said inverted cause seein the magnets all the time would be kool. DHFHades
i mainly said that line of "how does one keep them kooled" being semi sarcastic and was waiting for/expecting a response like this below haha ah, I tell everyone to run inverted though...looks cool as hell Quote 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 Pioneer DEH-P2900MP, Big 3 done in 1/0, 1 run 1/0 ran to amp DAT HF1000.1 #007 powering a DC lvl4 15 DAT HR 4085 prototype powering 2 Selenium 6s and 2 no name tweeters running active 1st place in AS3 @ Surf City Sound Off, 140.8 @ 45hz @ the headrest. rebuild coming soon to get a better score "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. Decaf
But if it loses strength when your using it? What's the point in have a strong motor? Why not get a weaker motor that won't lose strength? the loss is negligable when the motor is much much stronger than ferrite idiot. Loud Avalanche
they do lose it permanently, dante only gets like 10-20 burps on his 99z's before motors are done for Alan is also putting an extreme amount of power and heat to his subwoofers. If you excede the cure temperature point of neo it will lose all it's strength. If you are a daily ground pounder you are NEVER going to reach this temperature before you fry the coil so this will NEVER be an issue. VOPA
Alan is also putting an extreme amount of power and heat to his subwoofers. If you excede the cure temperature point of neo it will lose all it's strength. If you are a daily ground pounder you are NEVER going to reach this temperature before you fry the coil so this will NEVER be an issue. I am going to say no, nO, and NO. The coils heat up almost instantly when large power is applied. The radiated heat from the coil heats the motor. Review: Coils first and then Motor. Now, the next fact is that most high quality coils that we find in our favorite high end subs can handle more heat than a neo magnet. Why is that coil going to go out first? The heat exchnage going on inside the motor is obviosuly a more more complex reaction that has many more variables involved. A motor holds residual heat much much longer, but also takes longer to heat up. (the reasons which makes daily applications tricky) I would like to see a battery of tests with thermal imaging equipment while serving up different drivers, enclosures, power levels, tones, and musical samples.
