Guest MegaloManiac
you dont have to have a battery isolator...unless you plan to run 2 completely separate types of battery its not needed.

hammerdown
I hear talk about not adding a second battery if you dont plan on upgrading the alt because it will burn it up and such, is this true? Right now i have done the big 3 in 4 awg, got a everstart in the front and 0 awg running to the distro blocks in the trunk. I just bought a kinetik HC800 to install in the rear but am worried about hurting my stock alt. Its a 98 Cadillac catera with a stock 120 amp alt. I cant seem to find ANY alts for this car so i dont plan on gettin a HO for it anytime soon. So will the second batt be a bad thing? you want to upgrade your big 3 to 0 gauge as well. this will prevent any unseen problems in the future (alt dying on you)
Chris
I have two separate batteries, both with different CCA ratings & I have my big 3 in 4gauge. Works like a friggin dream & my car starts SOOO strong every single time. kingsuv
I run 16 batteries, sometimes as many as 22 batteries off a stock Alt. Adding a second will be fine. Don't use an isolator but do fuse at both batteries. Mix and match isn't bad but, isn't great. Your two batteries will equal out to match the weakest battery. Still, two is better then one any time. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
