After that lower the bands that are to harsh. I'm noob so thats why I take these guys advice. dont know if this was answered and maybe I am not understanding what you are saying but, he didn't say to put your EQ settings all the way up, he said to put your crossover settings all the way up. He did mention setting you EQ to about where you would listen to it and check for clipping after that. Minor adjustments to your EQ shouldn't have a big effect on clipping.
