external slot port

Recommended Posts

figure Id ask....anyone done one? I don't remember seeing them on here before and I figured Id ask why...My next box design is for 2 12s and I really need the whole inside of the box, plus I want to try it, cuz I think it would look cool. :good: any reason why I shouldn't?

edit: I forgot to mention, the port will have a sleeve fitted for competition. so I dont have to go around with a 46hz tune all the time.

Wouldn't this be done with a fiberglass box to place the vent where you want and these fleece it..., couple years back lightning had a focus that had the vent outside of the box by a bit and it sounded great!

How? Slot ports use 3 common port walls. If a port is external, its independent (0 common port walls). Therefore, it wouldn't be a slot.

i dont remember who it was, but someone here had a long ass port that was ported through the arm rest. that thing was like 6 ft long by 5x5.

Thinking of doing it in my truck and making it do triple duty as a port, arm rest and amp mounting spot (properly anchored to the floor to reduce vibration of course)

okay, so I guess not "slot" by definition but still by shape....if you wanna get all technical

thats right, I forgot about that thing. shit was a monster

Its really a square external port, since a slot must be internal.

I used one in a box for a type-x. It sounded pretty good and did a decent number from a trunk.

true....aight cool, thanks for the input!

and I forgot to say, the port will most likely be on top or on bottom facing forward (probably on top to avoid the weight of the subs)....slot to the left or right is too boring now :pardon:
