If your going to build another box you could always try a Kerf port :)

Not yet man, i have this big show on august 13 and i don´t have time to test a kerfed box vs aeros box right now, i tried the box with 6" PVC tubes and was so fucking loud on the meter, now i´m waiting for the aeros to arrive to Panama and i´ll build the same box again but this time i´ll get it some bracing and lots of stuff from this topic, i will build a kerfed box eventually, but not at this moment since i´m working to get a nice score on this show.

My plan is very simple, i have a couple of boxes laying aorund on my storage, the only way to know the exact gain is by doing a box with same internal space, port area and tuning but only difference is that the new box would have a kerf port, sounds good?

anyways, in the meantime, i´m working with this couple of boxes until i build the new one this weekend, any input that you want to share with me so i can test it on the TL?? i don´t want this topic to end just yet, but i´m almost done with any ideas , i´ve tested lots of things already hehe, cheers mate!!

you can try getting gains on sealed boxes with what you did to the ported box. that would help people with sealed boxes or 4th orders trying to get louder. also what about rounding the external edge of the speaker cutout hole? if rounding the inside edge helped then maybe the outside edge would help somehow. you could try fiberglassing the inside but that would cost money. maybe polyfill in a sealed or ported enclosure.

Now, time for some flares, i actually think it ended up looking SEXY as hell, it only took me about 20 minutes to do this since i didn´t have my tape measure, here it goes:

This is some free 3/4" PVC someone gave me, i only cutted a little line in half and got it on the port, fit very tight so i didn´t need screws or anything for this test at the beggining, i did put some duct tape tho.

First little piece :)

Ok, on the right side of the port, since the tube doesn´t fit like the other 3, i had to cut the PVC in half and hold it with some duct tape

Time for some good old duct tape :)

Final product, as you can see, no screws just yet :)

BOOM!!!!!

Not bad for only about 45 minutes of work, raised 0.7 dbs so far, tomorrow, i´ll get some screws on the flares, roundover the hole of the sub, flare the port internally and get some sexy ass printing vinyl inside the box, so more updates tomorrow :)

.7 from just this huh. :peepwall:

I wouldn´t find trying something like this, biggest problem is that i can´t find birch over here, only MDF and plywood, also some crappy woods out there , nothing that worth the try and effort, if you can send me a birch sheet to Panama i´ll test it :)

Mario, it wasn´t a 0.7 dbs gain, i said i won 0.7 dbs at that moment so far after some testings, those flares added me 0.5 dbs iirc , i already gave this box to the owner, score went from 144.9 dbs to 146.6 dbs @45 hz in his car,not bad for a single 15" sub and a 1600 watts amplifier wired @ 1 ohm in a trunk car without sealed off :)

I used 3/4" PVC for this flares, i guess you could also use 1" wide :drink40:
