THEKINGsBACK
I run mine .5 ohm strapped when I burp ONLY!!! Still get some volt drop as seen in this video, now granted my xs batts had been sitting for like 3 weeks and were low, but still with the quad alt kit under the hood, 900+ amps of current out of the alts, still got some drop and they won't play music at .5 strapped, just burp. Thanks...i'm not looking to burp at all. I'm building the biggest wall possible tuned at around 28-30hz, so I'm looking for deep bass. I just have had an AQ2200 running daily music on .5ohms, and I was hoping that the AQ3500's would be able to do the same. I know the AQ's have had issues with the vertical mosfets breaking, and AQ not warrantying it, so I guess I don't wanna go with too much power, and have too many problems. Yeah but there is a pretty big difference in going from one amp at .5 ohm and a 3k amp at that to two 4k amps to .25 ohm each. They pull lots of current!!! And I tried to play music thru mine at .5 ohm strapped and they played for about 15 sec and then went into overcurrent mode as soon as the note changed, into protect mode and the whole time my voltage was in the 13's. yea if you need more power sell the aqs and look for something different.. maybe sound digital? cactus sounds? Can't...trying to please some sponsors, and get more, so I gotta use what they suggest. I guess I'll just go with the 2ohm strapped, and run em' like they are supposed to be. thats probably the safest thing to do imo. but to help ur situation you could go with a higher charging voltage that would give you a few more watt out of ur amps.. or if your wanted to do it big and know what ur doing.. got to a 18 volt set up... the audioques do about 15k on 18volts strapped Quote he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:
Bakerman
Damn...thats freakin crazy. Well, thanks for all yall'z help. I guess I'll just go with the 2ohm strapped and play it safe.
TeamHT
I'm just curious if you're needing to strap the amps why still drop the resistance? Is this...two amps for one sub or two? Why not run one amp per sub.... Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
AMI CUSTOMS
The aq amps won't daily above 17 volts very long, that is from the man himself, DJ. So I have been told that they are burp only above 16 volts, the highest for daily is 16.8 volts for music. Bakerman
Actually, its two subs for one amp. I'm running 4 18's, on two amps. And yeah, the AQ's shouldn't run at all above 17v. Everytime I witnessed this, they always went into protect mode, also as soon as it dropped below 10.5, that little red light came on. Bakerman
Do you think I would be safer just running two subs on the amps instead of four?

And no matter what you do your feedin the amps with the electrical, not the subs. If you have 2 amps and 100 subs your still going to need to feed the amps the electrical. Dan2427
So when you run one amp per sub (2 amps, 2 subs) but the subs are in a common chamber is there anything I should be careful of when settings gains, x-overs, etc.? I'm buyin another AQ3500 for my set up after I buy 2 more batts and alt which will be within the next 3 weeks thats why I'm asking. Also what about the gain knobs? How will those work without the amps being strapped? Sorry for thread jack, figured its pointless to make another topic for one question. AMI CUSTOMS
Yes it matters, run them strapped or use an oscope to get to both be exact or very close if you plan on running them individual.
