Don't see how you can get it hot on a 3.5k. Mine was on a 7.5k, had some coil rub, and never got warm. You're doing something wrong.

If he set everything with a 0 db track. And he plays decaf, he will be clipping seeing as how decaf boosts at -5 to -10 db.

my mate runs 9k off a stock alt and like 5 batterys..it can be done,(edit: he wont play music for long, jut short bursts maybe 1-2min, but is gonna run a HO soon) altho i think i read OP had 2 standard alt? correct me if im wrong. and you can still get very stinky if playing decaf lol iv found this, some songs will, some wont. could be at 2ohm, but still, dunno why it would get so hot at 2ohm..

Our entire point is that something just isnt right. If everything was setup correctly, then you would have a ton more voltage drop. Something is wired wrong and causing all of these issue.

Those batteries are not made to.be rapidly discharged and recharged. They can not touch an xs in this instance.

lets do the math 500 amps of draw and u get 40 for your car and o wow 100 for your stereo this instantly means you ARE UNDER RESTING VOLTAGE OF YOUR BATTS so what do you batts rest at? i bet you all the money you got that they dont rest at 13.8 i have 1 5k playing right now, i have a 270 amp alt and 4 batts and i DROP BELOW 13.8 dont give me that bullshit!!!! y dont you tell us voltage at full tilt! Do you even have a voltage guage?

many people have told me at shows, that the dd-1 is for unedited music, such as not decaf, slow n throw, etc, Because it will clip still if it is, which i wondered why the hell did we get one if that is true, my bro smells his coils after 1 song full tilt on 4 sa-15s and a aq2200d and only drops .2v. So i would say find a 9v batt, and pop test the coils and rehook everything up. edit- which idk about the dd-1 thing is true or not. Would like to know though.

with my old radio i only drop .4 now i drop .5 with the new hu at 25 0f 29

Sub level is 15/15 and i only drop .4 from 13.6 full tilt i got 5 xs d3100 lol You said you used the DD1 on your amp, but when you checked you Headunit, was the sub level at 15/15? I always leave my sub level at 0 and then set my gain accordingly. This would be my first recommendation for adjustment. And what head unit do you use? Because I use the same head unit as the op and I leave my sub level at 15/15. Never burnt up a sub.

I would check what ray said. If the coil is wired out of phase that could cause this issue.
