what is wrong with rf amps ?

actually, funny thing happened......i bought the van to put a very large system into but i found out i actually like driving it It is the ULTIMATE D/L vehicle. Nobody even looks in my direction at all when im in it. Plus it is a "cargo" van so it holds lots of weight and is actually a good work "truck". I love making my home depot runs in it. I have a pickup but i like the van better for some reason. Maybe because everything is enclosed. either way, i will EVENTUALLY complete the mission and put beat in it but like i stated, i have no woofers for it at this time. No idea when either. It's ok, i am sorta looking forward to this build.

You might notice the hole i cut in the bottom platform. I did that because once i build this wall, if the fuel pump goes out, i am FUXOR'D. So i am making an access panel, just in case. It's a 91 that barely runs, so i don't doubt the fuel pump is halfway dead I originally wanted to do 4 18's but after using my empty baskets, i determined there isn't much room to do that. I decided on 2 15's than said FUCK IT and got 4.

Let me start out by saying this. I have NO CLUE what is going on with the AA SMD woofer. Every 3-6 months i hear "its going to come out". Lots of silence in between. I have a Van which needs woofers and a Civic which is almost done but needs the RE MT's replaced. I was planning on the v2 SMD subs for those projects. As of right now, i have no idea if that is ever going to happen. Any Joe off the street knows as much as i do. Nothing. That being said, while i wait to see what's going to happen, i have this 91' Toyota Tercel sitting there, with 2 cylinders still pumping out about 20hp of pure get up on a trailer power. I decided, i want to try something different. I am thinking i will wall this bitch all the way to the B-Pillar with a huge port and have some dont-give-a-shit fun with this car. In other words, its no Lexus ISF, i can do what i want, even if that is cut a hole, break glass, put sheet rock screws through the roof (with silicone for extra seal) (jokes ). This project is going to take some time. I wan't to do a 160 or better with it. I plan on using DC Audio Amps, possibly 2 or 4 9.0k's. I am going to focus on the enclosure first and use the entire trunk to power the beast. Now for my disclaimer. I have NO IDEA how the Tercel will meter. Some cars (CRX for example) are natural SPL number machines. They just WORK. The Tercel MIGHT do a big number, it might not. I can only try. So if i do all this work, and the number sucks, then ill just have to keep trying. I plan on showing just about every step and there will prob be some bumps in the road. I am willing to do whatever i gotta do though and i hope it at LEAST breaks the windshield :D Thanks to RUSTY at DC - i ordered up the Level 5 15's, and they were here in 3 days. And they are GORGEOUS. Just some early rough measurements to see what kind of space i have to work with. Not totally accurate but close enough to let me know my options.

Thought i would throw this together since im wiring up some batteries over in my build section. Ive had a few people ask me how i do it so here it is. This stuff is going into a PURE SPL Honda CRX. It will burp not play music very well. Anyway here is the soldering portion of the install. Here it is sorta "mocked up" how its going to be in the rex. Those are Kinetic 2400's Using ALL Rockford 1/0.....of course! Trimmed back about 1/2" and a 1/0 lug slapped on Grab you a decent propane torch and some solder. I use 60/40 rosin core solder. This will take practice but you will feel like you know something if you get the hang of it. I always get it nice and hot before starting. But i never use the flame itself to melt the solder. Heat up the BACK side of the lug preferably up higher by the hole at first. This allows the solder to melt up higher and slide down and into the wire pocket. This also saves you from melting the crap out of the wire jacket. you want to feed the wire and lug by pushing it against the hot surface and NOT the flame itself.......just keep pushing, get as much as you can in there without making it slip out the bottom and dripp everywhere. I do this until it is flat smooth puddle of shiny solder on the top. The trick is you need that wire to wick the solder or its no good. Now i heat it up toward the bottom of the lug until i see the wire underneath pull the solder into it. Pull back so it goes down gently and then let it cool a little bit. The wire should be saturated in solder now. Now i thow another pool over the top by heating up the lug up by the top hole again and letting it fall down into a smooth flat surface. Make sure it fuses with the lug all the way around and your done.

Just dont use rockford amps. Use something different.

seee you are thinking in whats going to look cool. not whats going to work. Your wire runs with amps in each window are going to be retarded long. not to mention you will have to fabricate a mount that can take abuse to hold them. more than likely it would need welded in as well or lse its not going to last. If you really want some amps to come humpty dumptying then by all means you can get away with cutting corners.

not sure i have seen a Tercel walled before...not to say there isn't one, i just haven't seen it. I believe Mike Martin (local guy) had a no-wall doing a 160 plus though.
