The tool can't damage your equipment. There is no reason to use your ear if you have the proper equipment. While it can't eliminate distortion, it can help eliminate distortion indiced by your equipment.

The only way someone can fry their shit using it is by not understanding how the tones work. They think "oh, the more negative I go with these numbers the louder it makes it, I'll use -15dB" and then when they're playing songs recorded at a higher level at full tilt, it will get clipped to shit in the amp, causing heat (bye-bye amp), or if the amp hasn't gone yet, then they're sending that nasty signal to their subwoofer(s) and causing heat in the sub until it's gone. TL:DR You have to understand how test tones at different levels work with music in order to not fuck your shit up like the "others" you claim to have seen @ohio45113

If its a sealed box with both subs in a common chamber check your wiring sounds like you may have some cancellation going on

don't know i didnt see anywhere where he said his sub out distorted and i would dd1 at the rcas for the deck first then dd1 the amps the 3 decks ive dd1 the headunit distorted at the same place for all the tracks on each set of rcas

He is probably getting distortion in his sub amp because the sub out distorts at 30 and he is setting gains at 32. He should back his sub out down like I said. Or am I crazy? Edit you can try 100 or 120 for mids. It just depends on what they are happy with. Once your gains are set right you will have a better idea what you can do

0db track will be quiter than -10 track.

this is what i would do, go back to your head unit, find max undistorted with track 2 (1khz). Go back to track 1, using the volume you just found, and check your sub out. If it is distorted, back the sub level down till the distortion light goes out. Now go back to your sub amp at the new volume and set the gain with 3 or 5. or right in between the two. I think your sub out is distorting because it showed distortion at 29 and you turned your head unit up to 32 to set the sub amp.

Me personally, I use the -10db for the subs. That will give you some more output.

You should call him out there and ask for it to be sealed. Record his reaction when he sees it!
