  2. For the guys who don't have a free single din slot...the MDF version. You can glass it in somewhere else and paint it!

  3. today i spent a good portion of the entire day trying to get this new triple LED meter kit just right. It might look easy in the end but there is a lot to this. Two different recessed area's, one for the lens to sit flush and one for the circuit board to sit flush, yet suspended just above the lens. Both cut down to the thousandth of an inch. The entire thing fits like a dream into a single din slot. I plan on making these out of ABS, multiple different colors including smoked, clear and even mirrored acrylic. I will also make plenty of these out of MDF so people can glass them in for custom jobs. Once i get good at this CNC i will make some aluminum face plates as well. I am sure i can do it i just have other stuff to finish first before i take that "plunge" (no pun intended) The lab. Although most of my designing ends up being on the PC closest to the CNC. I use both depending on how long i think i will be sitting before making the first cut. An EARLY proto using some smoked acrylic scrap i have laying around. It is starting to take shape! the smoked acrylic on the right is a scrap piece and it is what i used to develop this before actually moving it to the ABS sheet. The ABS sheet is 3/8 and not exactly cheap. I made a bunch of trim rings from yesterdays VU-Din project while i was busy designing today's piece. I made a lot of these moving stuff around like .003" at a time because shit was off just a little. OR maybe i decided i wanted to do a 2nd recess because i didn't want the board smashed up against the lens. Making sure it all went in took a few try's. everything snaps in really tight. If someone purchases this or otherwise get's their hands on one, i suggest you put a few drops of glue on the back just in case. But they are in very tight with a nice pressure fit.

  5. Well I decided I really liked how the led lights looked, so just spend $40 more dollars to change the back dome light, courtesy light by passengers feet, license plate lights, and engine compartment light.

  6. ANNND the triple LED bezels are ready! I got to the shop at about 4:50am and started cutting. I got about 20 done before i decided to take a ride to a new (to me) plastic store in town. This place is like acrylic, abs, pvc...well plastic heaven! I got some really nice router bits and a fresh sheet of 3/8" ABS and was on my way. Oh, the guy was WAY F'N cool there, he gave me about $200 in scraps...like 4 NICE 1/2" Clear scraps about 18" x 24" and a bunch of various other scraps. I tell ya, the guy wanted me to come buy more stuff i think....and i will! But back to the matter at hand. I got smaller bits, 1/8" to be exact. So my design changed a little. I had to fix it. I WAS using a 3/16" bit. Also, this new one is made for plastics and did SUCH A NICE job that i tossed my first 20 into the "extra's" box and started all over again. The new ones came out extremely clean. Like factory. No shavings, nothing melted. Perfect fit. As much as i like the factory looking texture, i really wanted to see what it looks like with a smooth face. I really liked it so now i am offering it in smooth OR textured! My bit set is growing out of its britches. Might need a new holder! I like the smooth one better i think!

  7. Yes, your right. No body knows what they are talking about on this website but you. Its all opinions here, if you think that amp is the bomb then we are all happy for you. Others like what they like for a reason. I personal fell in love w/ RF products in the late 80s early 90s. Are there other brands i would run... you bet. Lanzer not being one of them unless it was free and even then i wouldn't. OP asked suggestions and like one member said, great choice in subs but why skimp on the amp? Each his own, but i have seen you slam this forum before and for a new member thats not cool. If you have valid points in why that amp is so good explain yourself without the slams. Might get you farther. Just saying.

  9. This is an old thread but, since this is my first post I might as well post in the introductions thread . I am currently rediscovering car audio. I have much to learn . I discovered Steve and this forum while researching my current component lineup. I am intrested in building a very loud, very clear and, sonicly accurate system . I've got a good start going . As soon as I find the appropriate thread , I'll list my current gear and , seek direction regarding the best next step . Thanks , Chris
