  1. Wow! Congrats on the winner. My guess was way off! Would be cool if we got to see a raw video of the process to see what these other products look like since I've never used them before: " 120 sqft of Luxury Liner Pro, and 48 sqft of Hydrophobic Melamine Foam" It would have been a perfect demonstration of how to properly apply second skin products to a vehicle. But yeah, it's too bad the segments from the show for Second Skin was not very long but still cool to see yah on TV
  2. I wish I had bought one of those Sound Deadening Rollers long ago because I realized it's a lot faster and looks cleaner when you guys used that Roller to apply the Damp Pro onto the sheet of metal. I've been using the back end of one of my fat ass screw drivers to apply all my Sound Deadening all these years.
  3. Here's an older picture - The part with the fat mat stuff you see in this picture is where I didn't apply the great stuff foam because my wiring harnesses are in there. I still need to remove that Fat Mat and sound deaden smaller pieces in that area but I ran out of Damp Pro.
  4. Spraying a bunch of "Great Stuff Foam" from HomeDepot and THEN applying double layer of Second Skin Damp Pro really helped me with my trunk lid rattle. You spray the foam in between the lid gaps but be careful not to over spray or it dents your trunk lid surface. (Not sure if your car has gaps in between the trunk lid panel). I started with Fat Mat sound deadening in 2010... it was crap stuff and melted on me so I had to remove most of the FatMat years later... In 2012 I tried Elemental Designs eDead vse1... the foil was so thin it would easily come apart and the adhesive later was super thin. And finally, when done right... Second Skin Damp Pro! You can kinda see the yellow foam in the holes on right and left of my trunk lid in this picture: I like the way the Second Skin Audio Damp Pro looks so I probably won't even put my carpet panel back on the trunk lid. Not much rattle from the top part of my trunk lid. I was lacking some sound deadening for the rear brake light end of the trunk lid which is probably what was rattling in the video. I didn't want to cover up too many panel gaps because I need the space to replace my brake lights and other stuff when they break. I'll probably go back and cut smaller pieces to deaden that area later in the Summer.
  5. So this contest, am I only allowed to submit one entry or can I submit one on SMD and one on DiymobileAudio and one on FaceBook? I have accounts on the other stuff that I use to read and PM people but I'm more active on SMD.

Yes and no. I would say he's handicapped a bit by his suit. He definitely did not meet his full potential.

  7. why is it so hard to solder speaker wire onto 6.5 speaker terminals? the damm solder sticks onto the wire fine but it just slides off the fucking speaker terminals... advice please?

  8. Just bought these for mounting my amp to back of sub-box. The back of my sub-box was double baffled and built for mounting an amp I sometimes hear vibration noises from the amp.

Disqualified before the raffle event started. Jk.

  10. Damnit. I bought this on sonix and thought I was paying for two but it was only one pod. In addition, the damn thing is bulky and inner diameter is too big! Going to request for a return label for this piece of junk.

  11. I gave a co-worker a demo of my sound system and he wants to hear it again a second time but this time wearing ear plugs... wtf? Who wears ear plugs getting a demo...

  12. Taking out my SMD CC-1 to change my HPF from 125Hz to 80Hz @ 24dB slope for my HAT 6.5 Clarus components. Hopefully they don't distort and become muddy at high volumes.

    1. Jessica

      Jessica

or are they both 24db slopes?

My RF T800.4-ad built in crossover is at 24dB slope. The DC5K is also 24dB built in. But yeah, I'm using the same slope. Just going down to 80Hz from 125Hz cause I sometimes listen to my fronts with no subs turned on.

  13. Looking forward to seeing the new Sundown Audio Nightshades v4's. Less weight ftw!

  14. I wonder if Fi Audio will have a tax return sale :)

  15. I'm currently in the process of planning for future upgrades and was wondering if my old DC5K could strap with the newer white stripe model. I heard the internals on the newer models were a bit different?
  16. My rear backdoor panel is making a weird wood cracking flex sound on certain bass drops (It goes away if I push against the door panel). I'm going have to Second Skin Damp Pro that back door even though they don't have speakers in them. Wtf mane.

wait, you have a build? maybe im confusing you with someone else.

Same build since 2012. Just upgrading electrical and front speakers over the years. Dc audio. I never really posted my build into one thread though

  17. I think I might need another DC5K in the future. Any ideas if I can mixmatch the older all black version with the newer white stripe one?
  18. I think my system sounds louder with windows rolled up... this is strange. There was also a song I played that made it just a little hard to breath with windows rolled up.

  19. DC Audio - I make bags go poof! XLM2 Sub Flex Second Skin Audio Damp Pro working well on the trunk lid; barely any rattles! Some trunk lid flex and good voltage
  20. Sub faced towards rear trunk lid with no rear speakers... feeling more air flow above my head with windows rolled up (also louder than when I had it fired into the cabin with windows rolled up).

Gonna test it with windows rolled down tomorrow to see if it gets even louder.

  21. Took me a good half hour trying to get my damn Hybrid Audio Speaker Grills attached to the 6.5" speakers... Why these things so hard to put on?
