  1. Advanced to E-5, 4th time's the charm.

  2. They are definitely pricey. I can only hope that they'll be an amazing investment once I finally get around to using them. The boxes have been collecting dust for a year now, which is somewhat shameful.
  3. Haha it just works out better. I have a pair of eBay pillars chilling in my closet, as well as a template to make them look exactly the same as the pillars I bought, but I just didn't trust myself not to fuck it up. Maybe one day, to change things up or something. These ones were already made just for the exact HAT combo I'm putting in them.
  4. Smallest progress update ever. i finally got around to working on my pillars. I can't take credit for the glassing or anything. I bought these off of someone else, sanded the paint down, and now I'm doing a little filling in some small spots where the body work and edges were damaged when it arrived. Once I'm satisfied I'll use the SEM paint I bought which is a medium gray. The current color you see is from primer filler to see what spots need work.
  5. You won't have any issues with the externally regulated charging at the same voltage as the other. They can vary a tenth of a volt or two and still be fine.
  6. The RCAs you have are likely of poor quality and the signal is escaping the shielding and entering the speaker wiring. Can we get a better rundown of ALL of the equipment you're using? How did you tune the LC7 and amplifier? How did you determine where to set your gains? Where are all of your ground wires grounded at? What RCAs are you using?
  7. It definitely rides a lot better with all of these new parts. Moog and billstein. Ended up being about $2500 after parts and labor. I've had the parts sitting around waiting for install since a couple months before deployment ended. That $1700 labor bill definitely makes me want to hurry up and be rid of this apartment so I can pull the Tahoe apart with no issues from management
  8. Went out of town for a wedding, dropped the Tahoe off Thursday to get some suspension and steering work done. New control arms, tie rods, wheel bearings, idler and pitman arms, shocks front and rear, and rear coil springs. Definitely put a hurting on the budget, but this week is supposed to be nice and warm so I may get a little fiberglassing in. Hopefully. We'll see.
  9. no progress update at this time. I won't get much done until the summer due to the ship's schedule. I will say that the wife and I are going to buy our first house this summer, so I won't be buying the four 15" havoc's like I want until next year probably. I sold the HAT L1pro's and bought some L1v2's from Scott Welch (audiointensity.com). in a week or so, I should be finishing up some sanding on the pillars. I decided I'm going to herculiner the enclosure for the HDS312's, and i'll get some SEM to color match the pillars, kicks, and door pods to the OEM interior. I know it won't look factory, but I think color matching will help it stick out less, which is good since this is my DD. As far as bad news goes, my CompuStar Dash won't power on. When I bought it, it came with a different power harness than the normal one, so I'm hoping its just a protection circuit that won't let it use that. New (factory) harness arrived the other day from compustar, so i'll try it, and hopefully not have a useless dash cam. I get a evap leak code every time I reach a half tank of gas, so I think I need to get a smoke test done. interwebs say filler neck mostly, but I'm not going to shoot from the hip on this one. Mostly just posting this because I'm underway and don't have anything to occupy my time. All threads read, facebook has nothing new, and I'm trying not to look at things I can spend money on. Thanks for looking at my learning experiences.
  10. no specs provided on the link provided, and I'm not going to google for you, but it's got an AGM option on the front panel, so I would presume it will be fine.
  11. Here's a quick pic of the kicks I started for the L6's. I think I'm going to take that fleece off, and stretch the Lycra that dolarbilz sent to me. Once I glass them, I'll leave them there while I figure out the placement of the L8's in the doors. If I don't like the combo of the L6/L8 due to T/A issues, or whatever else, then I take the L6's out and put the stock kicks back in place. Simple.
  12. Speaker grill molds fit, a little extra room on the outside edges, so I'll probably fill that in when the time comes. Still need to drill mounting holes and glue rings to them. I'm dragging on it. Installed my Compustar Dash cam. Quality looks pretty good playing it back on it's small screen, not sure how it comes out yet when it gets stretched on a computer screen. Only thing left is to tap into a constant power source instead of the cigarette adapter that comes with it. This was a tight fit. I need to take it back out and take an angle grinder to that mounting bracket for the cross-brace And my upgraded body grounds so my HRK5 from Tony Candela will work properly again.
  13. I haven't spent anymore time on the pods since I started them last week, so I decided that since I was stuck on the ship today for duty, and I didn't have night watch, I'd bring them and my dremel in and get rid of the excess glass and make them sit flush inside of the factory grilles. Couple of air bubbles inside that one, thought I got them all good with my roller, but oh well. They're both pretty solid and layered. Sometime this week/weekend I'll see how they sit in the doors, and I'll drill a couple holes and either glass or glue some bolts for mounting into place. Once that's done, it'll be time to angle the speaker rings where I want, glue them into place, then stretch some cloth and glass it for strength, a little (ha!) body work, and paint. Or maybe I'll bedline them to hide my horrible bodyworking. We'll see.
  14. So far they're holding up great. Been almost a year now on the high and low beams. I had a slight issue with tony c's HRK5 kit, and learned that my factory body/frame grounds aren't good anymore, so I need to upgrade those. He says it's common on GM vehicles for the body grounds to fail and no longer be grounds. My wife hates how much time I spend working on the Tahoe, because I'm always changing something, but she understands it's what I like doing. I try to only do it while she's not home though.
  15. This showed up the other day DC Power Inc. Triple alt bracket And two SMD quad ANL fuse holders and I'm about to go take the front door panels off again and tape them up and get my base mold for the door pods.
  16. Try asking here. Theres a new subforum specifically for SMD products https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/357-need-help-with-an-order-ask-here/
  17. After driving around for a few days (no stereo equipment installed yet) it's a pretty quiet ride. The only thing I hear is the wind against the windows, and a small amount of engine noise, which I'm sure would be quieted if I had done the firewall. I'm satisfied with the results of all of the noise dampening I installed. Time to get to work on reinstalling the stereo equipment.
  18. Bought some PIAA 880's for the fogs (so now I have PIAA's for highs, lows, and fogs) and a fleece all lights on module to replace the cheap method, which was a diode connecting the relays. i need to align the fogs still, so no pictures of the fogs and all lights on until I get that done. also, I've had a "Service Brake Booster" message ever since I installed my singer 270A alt back in June of 2015. All of the research said it was the SBA (supplemental brake assist) causing it. I verified it had ground on the connector where it was supposed to, and power coming in where it was supposed to. I finally got a replacement SBA, and I still have the message. So I guess I'll run it to a stealership and have them diagnose it and then I'll do the repair.
  19. It was a complete bitch. I will never attempt to pull it and put it back up by myself ever again. I struggled with it for an hour before I finally got it back up once I realized I didn't have enough for everything.
