Yours is too far stretched to be true? Lmfao..you set yourself up for that one srp FML I know. Never saw it coming. -
WinISD is pretty easy. You do have to do a couple things first... Find the T/S params of your subs (Qts, Qes, Vas - get the manual) Click on New and make new entries for your subs. watch out for standard/metric units... that will throw it off. Just click on the unit (The cm, in, ft, etc.) to toggle through. after that, click on new again, choose your sub and it's easy from there. For comparison, it doesn't hurt to add subs to the list you've had before, then when you model a certain enclosure volume and port tuning, you have something to compare to. WinISD does not take into account cabin gain, so the curves are close to what you'd see if you put your enclosure on your driveway and measured it. It's just a tool to help you get an idea of what a certain enclosure design will do before you go out and build it.

I've been generally happy with adding 20% volume and more port, tuning a little deeper. Seems to do more than cramming more cone area in less box, especially with the lowz. YMMV but I'd model in WinISD and play around with volume. The box I built for my RF 15 gets stupid low when compared to what the manu recommends built a 3.5cube over 2.6 they recommend... Marketing depts make them keep the #s low so they can sell more subs to more people... Just think, if you didn't think you had room in your car for a 12, but the manu says you do, you'll probably buy one, even though the sq will be marginal.

DC wants to thank the vets today!!

My Brother in Law is serving now in Afghanistan. It takes a lot of balls to go into war... balls I sure as hell don't have. These heroes deserve this day, whether they've served, died serving, or are currently serving our country. They even fight for the freedom of the ungrateful fucks that hate on 'em. That's a hero. -
JL 18W6 Excursion Vid

That was when JL actually stacked up. Just like rappers that turn pop, JL did after they stopped making 15s and 18s. Then they just stopped doing what they loved and started catering to big numbers instead of what their customers wanted. This is the JL I used to love. Sorry that I keep shitting on every JL thread I see but this 18w6 is probably the last of the great subs they made. -
Have you modeled it in anything like WinISD? 2.5 cubes per seems smallish-average but it's hard to tell without seeing a response curve.

If you watch it first with no sound it's funnier than gay satan on a unicycle on the 700 Club.

AFAIK the best stuff you pay for, Vegas is good, I like good ol' fashion Premiere. BTW that guy is fucking quaking... He's running 6 SMD 18s on 27k. I've seen a lot of his vids on youtube, but I wonder why he's not on the forums here... -
This one will HD video and do what you want it to do. Will run Win7 nicely. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186212

As much as I personally enjoy your avatar... I don't like to have to change tabs on firefox so fast when I hear one of my daughters come up behind me. "Daddy, why is there a girl pulling off her panties on the computer?" Doesn't sound good when the wife is within earshot. Just my 0.02

SMD takes the #1 Car Audio Spot on the net!!
Quiet replied to meade916's topic in SMD NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dude, I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that the reason most of us are members here isn't because of the high numbers and stats, but because this is an awesome community of car audio enthusiasts that thrive on the positive energy of educating eachother and driving our passion for car audio. I personally have never been as active in ANY OTHER ONLINE MEDIUM than SMD forums. I think the badass numbers put up on Alexa, Google, and Youtube are just proof. I hope to be a member 10 years from now. :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: I feel a little responsibility on that one, though LOL. Glad to be one of the weird fuckers on here! -

I'm probably the most cynical fucker in here. That being said, you sound like you're beginning to believe the poison she's putting in your mind. My advice is, and take it for what it's worth, is to take a month long break and see where things are. No calls, no txt, no email, unfriend her ass on FB, unfollow her on Twitter. You need time to think and so does she. She isn't the only fish out there, but she will try to make you think she is. If you're having chronic issues keeping chicks, then maybe you're picking up the wrong chicks... Never doubt yourself and think you're the problem. Thats the first goddamn thing women are programmed to put in your mind. Just sayin.... from experience. Good luck bro. -
This is the power switch cable. This connects from the power supply to the motherboard power switch connector. link to motherboard manual print this out to find the proper header this connects to. On the power supply, connect it to the header marked J8 Switch. If you try to power it on and it's no-go, reverse the polarity and try again. Remember that the power supply needs 3 connections for power, Battery, Ignition, and Ground. It's a smart power supply so I really recommend you get the manual from Mini-box.com to learn how to set it up. You can program a delay in it so it will wait x amount of seconds before shutting down after you turn your ignition off. Front panel audio. Disregard these. The top one may be firewire, safe to disregard Looks like CDROM audio. Safe to disregard since XP and Windows 7 don't even use analog audio to play Audio CDs. It's possible you will have to tell windows in the sound driver to accept digital audio directly... the last pic is of the old connector (top) and the new connector. see how the plugs are diffrent Yeah, you can use the old power supply cable. The new cable only has one mini molex and two regular 4 pin molex connectors. The old one seems to have only mini (floppy power) connectors. You won't hurt anything using the old cable. I have enough experience with the VIA motherboards (Your EPIA SP is a VIA brand mobo) to tell you it's not very powerful at all and if you try to put Windows XP on it with service pack 3 it will cry mercy. This motherboard is much better for what you want to do, will run Win7 easy and does much better with Centrafuse (a good car gui that runs on windows). It will go right in place of the VIA board, and work with the same Power supply. You will need a 1 gig stick for it which will run you less than half of a 1 gig stick that will actually work with the via board. Just trying to save you some hassle, bro.

i disagree. screws will always be used in my boxes. i dont understand how a steel fastener could ever weaken something It can break up the cohesiveness of the wood. MDF is fiber and resin. It's kinda like canvas... strong as hell but can come undone pretty quickly if you get a small rip in it. Not quite as bad but I think you get the idea. If you cut your wood right on the money so there's no gaps, you can assemble your box with titebond II and clamps and will be as stronger than screws and caulk. Edit: To the OP... as long as there aren't any air gaps in it, clamps on all sides and lots of weight in the middle will be just fine. Screws might add gaps, and it's just easier not to anyway... you wont' have to remove or grind off screws later.

Level 4 handling 1500 watts?
Quiet replied to Pro7's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
You're much more likely to blow your sub over improperly set gains and clipping music rather than because your amp is "rated" for 1500 watts. Your sub probably won't even see it because of rise, anyway. Get your gains set right and you won't have a problem... unless you're just a complete fucknut with the volume knob.
