  1. I get that way with some games sometimes. I've been wanting to play Madden for about a week but had rented Guitar Hero 5 and played that. I think I am going to go and play some Madden tonight though.
  2. If you keep the same size box more port area will bring the rise down some. If you go to a larger box and keep the same port area your rise will go down some. If you do a larger box and more port area your rise will go down quite a bit but I don't reccomend that. What is your current box volume and you are running 2 6" ports right? I can give you a port/box volume ratio that should help you bring down your impedence rise quite a bit.
  3. A couple questions for you real quick. 1. Do you have upgraded mids/highs in the car? 2. Do you have the mids/highs on an amp? 3. Does your bass overpower your front stage?
  4. It's not even about preouts at all. Your stock deck sucks internally comparred to some companies bottom of the line decks. Almost any aftermarket upgrade will offer a better cd player quality, better dc/dc converter, better signal to noise ratio, better tunner, better everything than a stock deck. This is a no brainer, just upgrade now!

4 Type R's will handle way more than 2000 rms but that is a decent start for them. You could honestly get away with about 4000 rms but then your talking about a ton more money for an amp or two that will do it for you.
  6. Actually you can recone an L7, but it takes a lot of work. I've seen it done before. What needs to be done is the cone needs to be cut loose and reused. Also the spiders need to be cut off and the basket grinded down. The guy that rebuilt one reused the cone glued a new coil to it and also was able to do new spiders. The all that had to be done was gluing it back to the basket. I'm not exactly sure how he lined it up cause the cone is one piece and you can't really shim it in place, but it worked none the less. It's just a ton of work though.

The way you have it wired in this pic is exactly how it needs to be wired to get max power out of a Sundown saz2000d. Here is a link to them where you can buy one online: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/p...%252d2000D.html

It would depend on hom many of the type r's you plan on running. If you went with 3 of them you would need to wire each sub up to 4 ohms using series. The manual that comes with the sub will show you how to run it at 4 ohms or 1 ohm. You need the 4 ohm option. Once you have each sub wired at 4 ohms you will need to run all 3 of them in parallel or better explained all the positives together and all the negatives together. That will bring your final impedence to 1.33 ohms and is why I suggested the saz2000d. It will make more than 1500 watts at 1 ohm but closer to 1500 at 1.33 where you would be. Now if you ran 4 subs you would need to series all the coils so you get each sub to 4 ohms, then wire each in parallel with + to + and - to - and that would give you a final load of 1 ohm and would be an excellent amount of power for those subs.
  9. Your probably right about having more of an "ear" for change. There have been times though when I thought some changes that I made to the car that had nothing to do with power made it sound louder, and when I finally put the car on the meter it had actually lost spl. I've kind of got this feeling right now that my car isn't quite as loud as it was, but I haven't metered it to prove my theory. I'm probably just used to it that I'm getting paranoid thinking I broke something.
  10. Now that wasn't much of an explosion. I thought we were gonna see pumpkin guts flying all over the place. I bet it would have exploded more if you put it in your truck and played 30hz for it.
  11. Oh yeah I forgot, I can haz yo car???? I really like the Audi hatchback Herri. I wonder how loud one of them can get. My guess is 150's on music with a couple of 15's and 3K+ watts. When are you going to do a big build in it, or are you never planning on it?
  12. I honestly like 3 and 4, but murdered out looks badass too. Just so you know my favorite would be 4 with more accents than 3.
  13. Looks like you got him on the start and he could never recover from it. What kind of hp are you making in it?

It would depend on what ohm type r's your planning on running. If you ran 3 dual 4 ohm r's a Sundown saz2000d would be perfect for them. With 3 dual 4's you would be at .67 ohms and would get more than enough power out of a 2000d. If you ran 4 dual 4 ohm r's then you would have to run the amp at .5 ohms to make the best amount of power for the subs. Now let's say that you have the dual 2 ohm versions of the r. With 3 of them you could run at 1.33 ohms. If you ran 4 dual 2's you would need to run at 1 ohm. What I'm getting at is pretty much any way you look at it a Sundown saz2000d would be the perfect amp for either 3 or 4 dual 2 or dual 4 ohm Alpine Type R's. I would think that you'd be most happy with either 3 or 4 dual 4's since you would be able to make more power at a lower impedence. As long as you have the electrical to back the amp up you'd be fine.
  15. Thanks anyway, it's just a little too low for me. I am building a new daily box, but it will be tuned to 36hz so probably shouldn't play below 30hz or so with it I still like output and tuning too low without a ton of cone area and power definately makes output suffer.
  16. Before I download what are the freq's used in the song? If the peaks are below 32hz then I won't play it on my setup. I'm not tuned that low and risk hurting stuff playing lower than 32.
  17. That's why you haven't found one, cause you haven't went to a speciality alt company to get one. I'd have to reccomend DC Power for you. I'm sure you can get an alt that will just bolt right into place that will do every bit of 270 amps and probably close to 190-200 at idle. A teamate of mine is going to be getting one for a Cavy from Rob soon too. I'd send DC Power Rob or DC Power Kyle a pm and tell them what your looking for.
  18. You should be able to hear a difference in the increased amount of power that you'll have. That whole it takes double the power to hear an increase is bull. I've added 500 watts to 2000 before and was able to tell a difference, not to mention that it added .3 db in spl too.
  19. Damn man all the amps and stuff in front of your subs is no doubt hurting your output. If I were you I'd move all that shit to the trunk and be preparred for it to be louder. It may not be very audible by the ear but I guarantee that you'll gain spl on the term lab if you do so. That may not be your thing either, but I would give it a shot even if your remotely interested in a score.
  20. Too bad, I already won an alt that is almost finished. I would have loved to win another and became the first dual alt ZX3 ever! Meade I respect and understand your decision. You are a stand up guy that definately looks out for the good of our community. Keep up the good work.
  21. How about if you have no comment next time you actually leave it that way. The last thing this guy needs is your sarcasim. This is a good guy that is in a very bad spot right now. I don't expect you to know since your new to this forum, but he's been here for quite a while and is always becoming the butt of someone's joke. I know him personally and he's a good person who doesn't deserve criticism from people here. The man has a very bad back condition and can hardly get around anymore and is still trying to do something that he loves and makes him happy but some of you think it's necessary to jump on him like your his father. Really this is uncalled for, leave him be and don't make smart ass comments in his thread he is using to try and help to contribute to a hobby that he loves.
  22. Why's everyone always gotta give Harley shit? He means no one any harm and everyone is always busting his balls. This is one hell of a nice guy and he's trying to show his enthuasism and just gets put down for it. Damn the man's truck got taken and he's still trying to keep the bass in at least one of his rides. Give him a break. I'll be watching the build Harley.
  23. I would say it depends on if you want indash video or not. I own the 6000ub myself and so do tons of others on the site and I know it is a fantastic deck for the price. I got mine brand new off of OCS.com for $199 or something like that. It has just about everything you would want. A 7 band eq, ipod cable without seperate adapter, aux input, sub control, plays mp3 wma discs, ip bus compatible. It is just a nice deck for a very reasonable price. If your not completely sold on the indash video module the 6000 is a great choice. I'm guessing the other half of the forum that owns it will tell you the same. It is probably the most popular and used deck here followed by the Alpine 9886.
