150 is a major goal. it isnt something that you just do. you have to work for it. some people try for a year and maybe never get there. its an achievement, not a standard. start smaller. my 1st goal was a 140. then a 145.

i have never heard dc coils burn easy. my coils looked brand new when i reconed them after over a year of abuse. and i did get them smelly a few times. team mate never burnt a coil when he used a 12k on them.

you set it by EAR... your ears are wrong. maybe you should recalibrate them. seriously... use a damn DMM. its not that hard and ill bet you the smell goes away.

lol no you dont. mt team mate ran an SD12k to a pair of XLs and ive been doing two 3ks at .5ohm for several months. nothing special about the spiders. in fact, my box is rather large. yes, as long as you are smart, the XL will take a 3.5k amp just fine.

So you would use Voltage = SQRT(Power x Resistance) in order to adjust the gain until the amplifier's output voltage matches. Only problem is impedance is always changing. I guess it would get you close enough, but so would using your ear... yes. impedance is always changing, yes. but is it ever lower than nominal? no. using the DMM is accurate. i have tested it with my o-scope. clipping happens before it is audible at sub frequencies. above ~200hz its audible rite away. at least thats what i noticed while using a tone generator.

NO! lol its not a volume knob. if you set it too high you get clipping and fuck your subs. just forget about all the other factors we talked about. its nothing you need to worry about at this stage. set your gains CORRECTLY and you will be fine.

even then it wouldnt matter. your lowest impedance will be at least 4ohm. then itll have spikes above 10ohm. plus music is dynamic. so the best power you will likely get is 2000w. its not a trick or a rip off, thats just how audio works. as long as you are not clipping, your subs should be fine.

so you want to wire it all into one 4channel? i know you know wiring two different subs to the same amp is a bad thing. why would you think mids/highs are any different? if you want it to sound decent, get another amp and do it rite.

probably, but why do you care? your about to mix coaxials in the doors with components in the pillars, there will be a quality difference there too. but its not like your going for a SQ build by any means.

well first off, a passive crossover on just any speaker is kind of like a sub in a box thats made for a different sub. so if you want to add another set you either need to get another amp, wire something to the HU, or find out if your amp is tri-mode capable. as for the RCAs, you just use splitters if you add a new amp. make sure to maintain left and right channels. its all easy stuff. you should know how to do it.

it always takes a long time. and its best not to rush. let it take a long time and it'll look and perform a lot better.
