i have audio control 3 in my truck and i only use for mids and his for that very reason it does seen to rob alot of the signal from the bass to feed the mids n hi's i run a sound stream bx-15 separate for my lows and dont even use the audio control for the lows ...i would go back to the head unit and get a better line driver for ur lows

i heard and seen nothing but good thing with the massive nano amps & there strapable could go over or under ur buget ....look into them there pretty solid and great for small space's...and sundown is NEVER a bad choice those are beastly amps

thats 1 sweet ride -
could be a nuber of thing first thing i would do is check the ohm load on the sub/subs if they read what they should check your grounds and fuse holders ...i have seen alot of amps cut on and off because of improper grounds or cheap fuses...also try to keep a eye on ur voltage if you get it figured out to where it will play

Chevy SWAP help
extremeauto replied to CW06Silvy's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
it is doable but u would have to make sure you got the whole wiring harness and all the computers or you will play hell making it run right. also the bed should bolt on may be a gap but i have seen guys around here with 06 trucks with the 97 bed on it..(ppl crack me up) you may need to measure and move the cab mounts as well ...good luck and if you do it post some pics -

car issue
extremeauto replied to Amerrricuh's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
alt is out should be @14 volts running and 12.8 off ...put the car on a batt charger and see if it starts ...when it does pull the postive wire from the batt ...if it dies u need a alt... -

you have a blown fuse or short some where ....wtf were you doin trying to connect wires? man that i s a good way to screw some1s car up fast!get a schematic of the wireing and fuse points and go from there fisrt thing you do on a cranks but dont start is check fuse's -
Problem
extremeauto replied to hershy314's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
i would agree with every1 else on the neutral safety switch ...if it is not that my next guess would be the ignition switch ...not the key but the wireing that the key makes the connection to -
caps are bad...they drawe power more time then they put out...sounds like you have some issues...i would check the alt output (should be 14volts or better runnin) and you bat should set @12.6 -13volts with the car off. do the big three and check all your connections and you should be doin a lil better...good luck man
-
i would check to see if your getting rca out put as well...with you having the remote wire shorted on the ground you could have also damaged the head unit as well...always use the proper size wire....good luck man

yes i would def get some extra batts in there...550cca is a small batt to be running big sound on ur amp is gonna take power where ever it can get it ..via the alt or extra batts i would shop around on battery prices i got a sriken 45 amp hour(im sure i spelled it wrong...lol) for $120 something on sonic it made a huge difference before i got a new alt ... it will not solve all your issues but you will be able to beat longer with less voltage drop till you get a alt....

desided to try my hifi 2500 @0.5ohm and t seems to be ok and kinda likes it...lol ran it for 10 mins while tuneing the amp and it got warm but not close to hot...pounded it for another 30 mins or so and it hasnt got hot or shut down yet...of course i have a ok chargeing system tho....i will update if it breaks or shuts down...
-
i agree it pounded my sundownsa-12"S really nice but as u say it dont do the claimed power
-
i put my mids and hi's amps behind my back seats all the time never have had any issues i even USED to mount my sub amps to the rear seats in my grand am and have not had a issue yet...i do put thick rubber spacers under the amps to get the vibratoin down some and to help them keep cooler
-
depends on the ohm load... i have a daul 1 ohm 18 on my hfi2500 and it gets loud and moves air but its dont seem to be as it should cause i have to run it @ 2ohm instead of 1 ohm...it will give you clean power but i dont think the hfi does there rms power like the older bxi series amps do... what voice coils do you have? and will ur electrical hold up? hifonics WILL snatch 1 volt from a stock chergeing system as soon as you turn it on ...they a re great amps but power hungry just keep that in mind
-
lol ...im in the same boat i have run the hifinics amps for @ 4 years and like them alot i would stay away from the hfi and shot for a bxi model ...i have had 5 bxi1608ds and have never had a issue i currently have a hfi2500 it sounds good but dont seem to put out the claimed power...with the bxi i have had scores of low 140s (on 1600 watts rms) and i have got 145.4 with the hfi 2500.1 with x2 sa12's they send out pretty clean power /sound for half the price of sundown amps....scratch that im a dumb ass it just seen u are looking for .5 ohm stable hifonics will get mad and shut off but they love 1 ohm
