  1. what's wrong with having the port bend at the back of the box for an L shape? or using some aero ports if the dimensions allow?
  2. port area for round ports is pi * (radius^2) -- radius squared
  3. nice a semi local. i used to live in cincy, but now live in alexandria. about 20 minutes south of newport on the levee. welcome and thanks on searching the forum before asking questions haha
  4. my friend was gonna give me a pair of those. he has some already or he didn't like em but my damn feet are too wide for those they were pretty uncomfortable for me
  5. project looks really good! and i want to sit in those seats really bad
  6. what's so hard about sketchup? i find it simple and straightforward
  7. should be one of those mindfuck posters lol. when you hear it...you'll shit bricks
  8. nah you're fine . i put that there for people that were new and weren't aware of how much port area to use as a thing to go by. but...in lots of screen shots i've seen, it doesn't quite seem to help. i really have seen it get down to 5 sq inches per foot lol. to my knowledge there is no set rule on port area. it all just varies from application to application.
  9. just too much according to the 'rule of thumb' rule. i think i'm going to take that box out because it's just that, a general rule of thumb and not a set rule to go by. not a 'right or wrong' case, unless there's something like 5 sq inches per foot lol
  10. i did not build my calculator according to JL audio, so of course it will differ. cashdollar, thanks for posting your amazing paint skillz you are pretty much spot on except for the common walls. when looking at the port head on, common port walls is how many sides of the box share the face of the port. so yes, as hdorre said you'd want 3 common walls. but yes physical port length is just that, the length of the physical port. the wood is the physical part. it's the inner part of the port, so it does not need to be as long because in instances where the port bends, the 90º angle accounts for the 'loss' of the port length. the effective port length is the cyan colored port length that is pictured above. aka the port length you enter into the box. ignore the end correction. the calculator already takes that into effect when doing slot ports.
  11. yeah you can get subs to work...but what about a 5.1 sound system like he linked? and i said it's possible, i just don't like laptops so i don't know what they come stocked with audio-wise nowadays
  12. it's in the rules. need actual pics of the item with your name on paper or something next to the item. your listing won't last long if not. nice cards tho. i coudl use an upgrade but not enough extra cash right now
  13. most likely not as you'll need a sound card with enough outputs for the speakers unless your laptop happens to have enough. as for the sub, get a plate amp from parts express or run an amp off of a PC power supply. run the RCA's from the PC (probably need an adapter from the headphone jack) to the amp. pretty sure that's how i did mine to my old stereo speakers that have subs and all. spliced some RCA's and yadda yadda. i'll check if need be, but i'm about to go to bed right now tho
  14. you were bored, weren't you? lol
  15. off for the next two days, FUCK YEAH! .....wait that's not right..... girl wants to fight and bitch and nag every time we go out and drink together cuz i have other lady friends and causes a bunch of drama and shit...when we're not even dating lol...FUCK THAT ok that's better
  16. i don't 45 my boxes and i still need a hammer to break them
  17. i was wondering this myself. maybe/hopefully an upgrade down the line
  18. general rule of thumb for aero ports is 9-12 sq inches of port per foot
  19. can also click on my link in my sig
  20. it'll hold up just fine. align the surround properly and you will never ever notice it's there, let alone anyone else looking at the speaker
  21. i wanna enter the loudest train horn class if only you weren't so far away
  22. definitely a sick ass wheel. i like thin spokes and accent color matching. i'd buy those in a heart beat. if people didn't like them, then on them nawhamsayin??
  23. *raises hand* i think it's awesome you're growing so much, albeit a bit stressful on your end. i personally prefer online contact. i hate talking on the phone
  24. diameter is across, circumference is around and my name is chris torres, not john torres lol when making the sides, with the pencil or rectangle tool just click once, then type in the inches on the keyboard and hit enter and it'll measure out. if you're using the rectangle tool, click once, type one number then comma, then the other number. and make sure they're on the green, red, or blue lines
