Well that case cleaned up extraordinarily well. Just curious, how is this free? Are you trading for parts?

It was probably just a software issue. If it's only happened that one time I wouldn't stress over it. Nothing is even close to overheating. It was likely just the video driver having an issue or possibly Windows Update downloading and installing a new video driver.

I like everything besides the Raptor but it looks sweet. Can't wait to see it built!

Everything I was just going to say. New macbook is stupidly put together. If anything breaks and you don't feel like sending it in you're pretty much going to have to buy a new one. Proper dick move apple. So what you're both saying is that it's like every other Mac ever?

I'd like to see someone actually make use of that high of a resolution on that small of a screen. I had a 15" Alienware with 1920x1200 resolution and the text was almost unbearably small. I had to lean forward toward the screen to read it without zooming in and I have 20/20 vision. Pixel density only makes sense until a point and the new MacBook is possibly beyond that limit. I'll have to wait to see one firsthand before I can say for certain though.

You do realize the Pentium4 days are over right? Yes. These CPU's are hyper threaded, you know? He wasn't saying HT doesn't exist anymore. Leaving HT on newer processors is much more beneficial than it used to be. Keep it enabled. Newls1 is a member at another forum I also frequent.. HT works for some things yes, but you need to test if it is beneficial for the program you are intending to use it with still. Are there any video editing or rendering softwares you know of that perform better with HT disabled? Legacy X87 instructions are the major culprit in either case. When using CPU only then HT helps for the most part due to lesser amounts of X87 that are used. If a GPU is being used then the windows threading management engine basically falls flat on its face. This is why many games accrue such poor performance increases even when programmed to make use of 3+ threads for quadcore CPU's for example. I'm confused here, whats bad about saying to test your target program for performance benefits with certain hardware configurations? I just don't think it'll make much of a difference at all in a build like this. 6C/12T and 3 670's will RIP through rendering. I doubt you'd ever see much of any change enabling or disabling HyperThreading. It'll cut down on heat, it'll allow more applications to run concurrently. The i7's HT is far more efficient than the P4's. For the investment of testing both options I sincerely think it'd just be a waste of time.

Thanks how much do you think i can go on a overclock with these fans. Btw do you know if the coolermaster 200mm fans fit on top. Overclock is all about how your specific chip responds and your CPU cooler. Most people can hit 4.2+ easily on air cooling. 4.5+ is about the upper limit of what air cooling can get, though there ARE chips that will go up to 5+ on air. I used this matching NZXT fan on top (click me!) in my build. I'm not sure how well the Cooler Masters would fit as NZXT's mounting holes are spaced 192mm apart instead of 200mm.

Laptop LOL! Not desktop silly! To the OP: If you were able to configure the laptop with video card upgrades when you bought it then it's possible to upgrade the video card. If you're not sure I'd call HP with the exact model number and ask what video card options exist. The only issue is that there's no way I know of to buy in-the-box laptop GPUs and you have to buy used ones out of old or broken laptops off eBay or something similar.

Just depends on the games. If you're playing them at the same resolution as her monitor and they're running smoothly at the detail level you want them at, by all means save the money on the GPU. I've just always been one for cranking up everything to maximum. Just curious, but what resolution DO you play Arkham City at? I can't imagine you're pulling more than 30fps on High settings on integrated graphics unless you've dropped the resolution down a bit.

I'm assuming you typing 2570K was a typo because I don't believe that chip even exists. Plus you said HD 4000 which is what is on the 3570K. What follows is based on that assumption. If this machine isn't for gaming and is just for general use then there's no reason to go with anything stronger that HD 4000. If it's for gaming and you're thinking about possibly upgrading over time but keeping the Mini-ITX form factor then you may want to go with another case. Something like the BitFenix Prodigy (a very-soon-to-release case) would offer up space for a dual-slot graphics card and full power supply and might be perfect for you as it'd give room for expandability while keeping the tiny form factor, however it'd raise the cost as the case is more AND the power supply would be separate, plus you'd be adding a graphics card on top of that. There is hope for this machine as it's specced out now when it comes to gaming, however. AMD's Radeon HD 7750 comes in a single-slot flavor and doesn't require a 6-pin PCIe connector (it's powered right off the PCIe slot). Even under a gaming load and paired with an i5 processor, the entire machine would pull less than the 200 watts the power supply is rated for. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814150612 Here's a quick graph of the 7750's power consumption under a maxed gaming load. Keep in mind, this test is done with an overclocked 3960X processor (a 130 watt CPU that was likely pulling more than that during this test from the overclock) and it barely scrapes at the 200 watt mark. Your i5-3570K is a 77 watt CPU. Even with a healthy overclock on the i5 you'd be well under what the PSU is rated for. Case in point(s): If it's for general use, the list you have would be perfect If it's for gaming and you plan on using it until you run it into the groud, add a single-slot 7750 and let 'er rip If it's for gaming and will be upgraded often to keep up with newer games, spend the money to get a better case, bigger PSU, and a graphics card

Only thing I see that I don't like is the 1.47v vcore but if that's the mobo overclocking it for you then it did it's job and got you the highest overclock it could. Have fun wiring up them GPUs! Make sure you run it through Heaven or 3DMark and post results!

Do this before you bother buying a new cable to test it.

Yeah it's hard to push a machine over even 4GB of usage with just web browsing and light games like Minecraft. I've got 8GB and the most I've seen used on my rig was just under 7GB and that was running Battlefield 3 and SWTOR at the same time with web browsers and voice chat open. If you want to play games on a laptop in the $600 region I'd definitely look for a laptop with AMD's A6 or A8 chips. They have far stronger onboard graphics than any of Intel's chipsb and will handle Minecraft well.

Not as fancy of a car as I was hoping for. I am doing black leather with blue french seam stitching at all the breaks. Suede inserts like the seats. It will match my interior perfectly. Ooooooh. Just curious Steve but how did you plan on finishing the trim panels? If you already said it I missed it I was assuming you'd just be wrapping them in vinyl like in the Tahoe? For some reason I feel like doing a black flocked "soft-touch" finish would look amazing in there. It'd look almost like a suede finish and would have a similar feel to it if you've never encountered it before. Just something that came to mind looking at it almost finished with the LED's going in there. Picture of a black flocked dashboard.

I got a $20 RadioShack meter and haven't had a single issue with the thing. Just in case you need to buy a new one and there's a Shack nearby.

It's still a pretty easy place to toast a machine. Undo isn't much of an option unless you back up everything and know how to put it all back into place. I'd never recommend someone dig into regedit unless they're 100% comfortable formatting and reinstalling if the wrong entry gets deleted or edited unintentionally.

You may be able to use CCleaner to delete it. In CCleaner's "Tools" tab is an uninstall option. It may allow you to uninstall AVG. I've always felt AVG was a bit heavier than it needed to be and I never really liked it always trying to sell me the Pro version.
