Two 18's, 17cu, 30hz (bracing and glassing q's)
Sanitarium replied to SWIFT's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
I figured up your box dimensions and port guessing 0.25 cubes displacement per sub (close enough, i can correct if you're anal about it). to end up with a 30 hz tuning like you're looking for the port would need to be 26.5 inches long leaving you at 17.528 cubes after all displacements and 14.6 square inches of port per cube. nothing about that box is wrong per say... but i personally would do it.. and damn sure wouldn't run 1500 watts per Q in that size box. Just be careful with it, you could easily overheat or bottom out a sub in it. -

can't read a lick of what you typed. best not to color your font like that as it won't work with all forum skins.... oh and that's entirely too much box for 2 18's. would work great for 3 though. Glassing the inside is only something that will help if you take the time to sand it smooth benefits would be lower rise (unpredictable as to how much) smoother airflow, and a gain in db (most likely not audible but readable on the meter.) -

Stinger Volt Meter possibly bad?
Sanitarium replied to WakingJudea's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
voltage readout on mine quit too. the stinger voltmeters are really cheap POS's. but we really don't have any other options short of a DMM or dropping $80+ on one meant for a custom dash/race car -
Why you need big electrical to run at less than rated impedance
Sanitarium replied to runner800's topic in Amplifiers
^^^ all that, plus the fact that at lower impedance loads the EFFICIENCY of the amp drops. generally at 1 ohm most amps run around 70% efficiency give or take. that is for every 1000 watts of input current (amperage x voltage = wattage) you'll generally get 700 give or take back out of it. -
ooo ooo. can i play?

bout $90 .. google DSO nano. otherwise.. several hundred for a bench unit.

special kind of silicone i should use for a box?
Sanitarium replied to soundstream15's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
if the box was built right, a light sealant like that is not needed. My vote is to just rebuild the box. -
This. When i dropped my amps to 1/2 ohm and realized i was only dropping to 12.8v full tilt, i was actually happy. Don't get alarmed till you start dropping to 12.0 (turn it down)
