  1. That sub is essentially a Fosgate HX2 (non power series) and it will be BEST SUITED for a ported box. The basket and cone are diff for copyright reasons but the other specs should be same or close. Build it to Fosgate HX2 specs or get the info from the LA site/tech support.
  2. 2 tubes=More caulk! &....DATSALOTTACAULK! I got no use for a double whammy like that, but it seems like one of them Tim-The-ToolMan-Taylor type tool upgrades to get 'er done quicker. Chicks dig a lotta caulk.
  3. Well, the kickers are RACK MOUNTs, and as long as I've been alive, I never seen any kicker rack mount amps, so i'd say either a custom dealio...or brand spankin new and they gonna be like Audiobahns Rack mount amps. I doubt the custom, prolly just waaay new.
  4. DUDE! Ok-I think I'm the LAST one to call someone out for being slow/childish/or [glow=red,2,300]POSSIBLY DOUBLE POSTING TO INCRERASE THEIR POST COUNT, but... [/glow] http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/forums/in...hp?topic=2788.0 We've already been over this. YOU asked the first time in its own thread. You got a lotta responses to that one. [glow=red,2,300]WHY POST IT AGAIN?[/glow] :poster_spam:
  5. Don't the 1st ones say ZR1000 right on em? And the 2nd set are orion, my guess is HCCA...1000? or 1500.
  6. LAWL that was good but why not something alittle more sensible like throwing stars or nun chucks It's pronounced "Nunchuku". Maybe I should post pics in the FS section? HAHAHAHAHA. <---Some by each door, even out in the garage next to the billy club and tee-ball bats.
  7. HMMM, things that make a deck sub output go bad: TIME, sh*tty company like Dual or Sony explode, Murphey's Law, the planets being in line on a friday, or anytime a "friend" brings you a setup to build, fix, or "upgrade". ~2cents.
  8. I'd have to check on a shipped price depending on the destination, but maybe this is like what you're lookin for. I have a few sealed ones too. I'll post soon.
  9. definently... [glow=red,2,300]metallica, pantera or any good metal artists [/glow] should sound amazing with that setup... OR maybe some Young jeezy, Dru down, or E-40 :watsup:Great work as usual steve. Still the man in the trunk or the living room. I (we all) can't wait for the house flex vids. Gonna have to epoxy everything in place...OR MAYBE INVEST IN SOME NEO MAGNET STOCK. Put them lil buggers on the coffee table feet and floor,..hell maybe just a sheet of metal under the floor and neo mag up everything in that house, hahaha. <--Would need neo-mag boots.
  10. Welcome to the forum  Way to get started early, I think thats key in DIY audio. I started in Jr High building my older bro's setups and for his friends too. Need lots of time & experience before you really know whatsup. Even the most veteren guys on here, I know I've heard it from Steve, will tell ya you learn sumpin new everytime.
  11. I dont personally use any. If you build the bottom mould/tub strong enough before you try to pull it, it'll withstand a whole lotta pullin. I always have a mdf section to pull on like the outer ring i'm glassin to usually. However, "release agents"= PAM (non stick spray for cooking), PVA (silicone based I believe), White lithium (thats pretty thick so spray some then paint it around to stretch and thin it out over the trunk/area) or silicon spray=same. Teflon spray also. Hope that helps. Search PVA Spray on yahoo or google.
  12. He wouldn't let you look inside?!?! What an assclown! How you gonna build or buy that kinda setup and be all shy or secretive about it? It's not like the design is some super secret, Hi-tech build like the 1-2 extreme guys w/ 1-2 18's in super tuned bandpasses doin 160db. Concept: BUY HELLA WOOFERS, CRAM EM INTO A WAGON, add power. OOOOH such an innovative setup. (Sarcasm) Oh well it's a nice setup but if the owner is a DOUCHE about it that kinda kills it for me. ~2cents.
  13. Damn that's a NICE box. Looks a lil FLIMSEY compared to yours GP, but the sex nonetheless. Wicked lookin center console too. And I'm sure those lil pods up front sound ridiculously GOOD.
  14. IMO it depends on how "raised" those stripes are. If you want it all uniform finish in black, and the stripes are raised a bit, they will show up even in all black. I would take it down as much as possible w/ paint remover/sanding combo and re-primer, and paint as u want it. Just my opinion. If the strips are not raised, i guss just sanding would be ok as long as you ruff it up and re-primer too. I f you want it "candy" lookin, lay some silver first. ~2cents. ;D
  15. "Boobytrapping" of your house or vehicle is illegal. Felony here in Cali and yea you would be civilly liable too so they could sue you. It's like when you here bout a burlger falling thru a roof/skylight and hurting himself and sueing the homeowner, It's not RIGHT, but sadly it happens all too often.
  16. WOW. <---makes a mess in his pants. Might not pull a TL 160 but nonetheless. Thatsalottamuthafuckinsubs. As long as they're all W3's and not w0's, I likes. :W:
  17. I'mma go snag my pops' dig cam so i can post ya a pic of the one I have asap.
  18. HAHA NO! Actual Hard copy pix from ONE-TIME use cameras (like 2 for $5)..then I scanned the pics onto my pc w/ my scanner. I know shitty quality but yall get the idea. I think my cell pix (like on the lexus) were better. Oh well. working on a digi cam soon enough. Cant really go take more w/ the celly cuz this cars long gone.
  19. I was gonna say if you look on ROE (realmofexcursion.com) they did "the great 12 challenge" to find the "best" overall and the CVX's did very well...might even have won I forget. I would say CVX 12's would be a good choice and around $150each BNIB shipped from ebay stores all over. Less if you Bid war em. Hope that helps. Kicker FTW
  20. I would say do a SIMILAR or IDENTICAL setup to what Steve did in his civic the FIRST time. He had to use the whole trunk to get those 18's in there in a ported box but w/ Kicker 12's your airspace req's will be way less so it should leave you "spare" room/access to ur plastic-donut-tire-thingy. Check out the PRE-THEFT build of the civic. http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/239025 Hope that helps. If not feel free to throw more Q's out there. Like Scratchy said-Steve is a pretty busy guy w/ 3-4 projects goin at once PLUS HIS REAL JOB, so it might take a while b4 he gets back to ya as he gets a TONN of "Hey Steve!!!" questions everyday. GroundPounder, Ray, and few others on this site are quite knowledgable so just toss your Q out and if someone has ur info, you should have a response pretty quick. Otherwise PM Steve direct. ~2cents.
  21. Ok this one goes back before I built my car FOR REAL (I had 2 cvr15's in a custom box built by a shop and i was happy with it). Ride: 1995 Ford escort 2dr I don't have any full shots of the car but it was this color green and only diff is 2dr not 4dr. Deck: Alpine Cd (model ## I forget) Front mids: 6 1/2" Infinity Kappa Components Rear mids: 6 1/2" Infinity Kappa 2 ways. Subs: 2-JL Audio 12w3-D2's (version 1) 2 ohm mono @ amp. Amp: JL Audio 500/5 5 channel. Goals: The best possible sound Q while still being able to drown out douche-bags in traffic and scare old people. So this was OFFICIALLY my first ever attempt at makin kick pods. Sorry I didn'd get a shot of layin the base-matt but here it is w/ the rings positioned The owner. Here we tried 2 different approaches as an experiment: The one on the left is the passenger side pod and the front portion was formed using planter's foam (that really lightweight, crumbly green foam in the bottom of flower pots/vases) and it was cut to form w/ a razor blade. The one on the right is the driver side and it is wrapped in black stretchy material. Passenger side Gettin there And the driver side gettin moulded in What a damn mess! Tearin it all apart to run wires Driver side after a layer or 2 of bondo and some rubbin with 200grit sandpaper and the pair Slave labor hehehe Wrappin em up in some color matched stretchy carpet I like to poly fill em for a lil extra "airspace" and thus more mid bass up front Passenger side gettin mounted & wired Driver side all done And here's the "amp rack" I built. The rack was actually more than you see in the pic, it had a top cover that attached via 2"DOWELS that slid into those 4 drilled 1/2" holes (2 on each side). It was essentially a frame that surrounded the face of the amp and concealed the wires. It sat about 1/4" higher than the face of the amp so it wouldn't get scratched if he put stuff in there on top, but the owner never put the top/cover in and thus, the amp got scuffed in a few places. The box was custom built by a local shop and black vinyled. It was actually orignally built for his 85 bmw which had 3 amps (2 kenwoods & 1 mtx) and a different amp rack i built. I'm workin on scanning in them pix for ya guys. I didnt' get any pix of em, but had 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12's that he swapped in there in place of the JL's. The Sound Q was VERY good, But in the end he opted for a lil more output and good SQ w/ the JL subs. I think that's it for this one. EDIT***1-14-06 Since I mentioned it already I guess I'll put his old BMW setup right here instead of makin a new thread. Ride: 1985 BMW 325E Frint mids: Infinity Kappa 6 1/2" 2 ways Rear mids: Polk EX 2 ways (5 1/4" I think) Subs: Same as above. Sub amp: 2-Kenwood 600watt 2 channels (part ##?) Mid amp: 1-MTX 300watt 4 channel (part ##) 1F Streetwires cap. Center Amp rack by me (black vinyled, Hinged, & held sub amps, wiring, and 1Fcap-see pics) and seperate rack for the 4 channel on driver side QTR panel of trunk in vinyl w/ removable trim ring to access connections (somewhat visible in pics) This the before setup: And after: Battery in trunk on far right. (stock location)
  22. I been workin & drinkin in the garage and the best "no brainer" solution I found is wrap either cup in some kinda tape. Duct tape/masking tape or w/e that way it's color coded. silver taped cup=crown&coke, masking taped cup=death. :W:
  23. Them AutoZone guys WILL generally let you use the junk in the left overs/damaged return box we call a tool box if YOU'RE NOT AN ASS. :ranting2: But don't hold your breath on any "specialty" tools being in that box, there is NO mandate on AZ having "STORE USE" tools as it's not a service shop like pep boys or midas. At least 10 times/day some douche wants to know how much for this kind of work or to have such and such installed and I tell em it depends WHERE you take it but around here WE DONT WORK ON CARS. I just walk em over to the tool section "This here set is only $9.99, or I'm sure if you BOUGHT it like everybody else, it would work just fine, & it even comes w/ a warrenty. :clown2: The parking lot is not a service station.
  24. I have a box for 1-12 and it's slot ported same side as the woofer. I can post pics if you want but it's not covered yet, just mdf and I need $50+S&H for it. hit me up.
  25. Sizes? I have 8's, 10's, 12's, and 2-15's but the 15's one's dual 2ohm the other dual 4ohm. Hit me up. All BNIB or very close to it. All price ranges.
