I think singer alts are about the lowest cost you'll get for an H.O. Alt, if i'm wrong i'm sure someone will chime in on someone else's that cost less.

I used to but no longer use fuses after a few close calls with melted plastic fuse blocks. I just take better precautions now than i did using fuses now, plus every time you have a cut in the wire you add resistance and a possible point for problems. The biggest mistake i see people do is laying wire on engines with no loom or other protection and they're looking for a fire under the hood, which for them they had best use fuses or lose a car due to bad installation.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Are you able to hear it over you music content? Providing you can't hear it over your music you'll be fine till it lets loose, either play it as it is or spend money on recones you may or may not need at this point and time.

Your kenwood and alpine may have supported 4v input whereas the sundown may have 8v input which would be why your confusing the gain setting at. Turn your h/u up to where you normally play it at and keep turning up the gain till you can no longer get any louder once you reach that point back down a tad and you should be good to go. You may have to keep turning up and down a few times till your confident on where it stops getting louder at then just back off a bit and you should be as close to clip free as possible without a DD 1 or o-scope.

Counter his negative response with one of your own telling what had happened and 99.9999999% of people will see him for what he is and not you.

Try installing the video drivers that came with the card and see if that helps, i had a card that didn't like any of the drivers offered except the one that came with the card. Also make sure all your other drivers are installed to make everything work as intended, other than that it sounds like it's a grafix card problem, depending on your operating system if your using a 32bit driver for a 64bit OS you may run into problems there also so make sure you have the correct driver for the OS your using.

It's up to the OP to pick and choose what will best suit his/her needs for that application. The mb quart onyx amp line is a good bang for buck product, while it might not be the best in quality it will perform quite well for your needs and at a price your willing to pay.
