sounds like a fuel pump ballast resistor gone bad. most gmc trucks from about 95 up use high volume fuel pumps, but the high volume isnt needed all the time. so gm decided to put a resistor in line with the fuel pumps. these go bad all the time. they either give no resistance, which would cause the fuel pump to run at full speed all the time, of they give very high resistance, causing the truck to idle for a few seconds, and then when the pcm switches the circut to use the resistor, the truck dies. i would look into finding that resistor. unplug it and cross the two wires on the vehicle side, then try to start the truck. if the resistor was bad your truck should stay running as long as the two wires are crossed. if that is the case go buy a new resistor. best of luck.

no such thing as an easy motor swap. lol it should be straight forward enough. get everything from the 4.0 that you can. (engine, transmission, transfer case, alternator, power steering pump, etc. etc. etc.) to make it easier on yourself, when you go to pull the old motor, pull the front clip off of the car, that way you can pull engine and trasnmission as one. it should be easy ish, considering there isnt much if any computer to that car. hardest part will be getting the 4.0 to bolt up. make sure you look the vehicle up on the ondemand for a procedure on how to pull the front clip. best of luck to you.

The clipping light may not be 100% true, but it is a good indication that you have the gain too high. I would plug it in ant trust it. It will save you money down the road.

I would have to say it was the iPod settings. The way the iPods decode the sound isn't the greatest, and when you add in the eq to that you get a nasty sound file. I would honestly send the sub in if it is your first time doing a recone. I would honestly try your hand at a redone on a cheaper sub. That way if you mess up you went as pissed.

wouldnt suprise me. you see it with loads of companies. kicker started selling to best buy in the past couple years. and as with other companies when they sell out to larger businesses the quality drops to meet demand. happned with audiobahn. i have a 12" flame series sub from them that i bought nearly 10-11 years ago. i have tried multiple times to get one of the new flame q series subs to go along with it, but the new ones keep having problems, be it tinsel leads breaking, coils smoking, etc. etc. and yet the sub i bought before they sold out to walmart is still living strong. it seems to be the death of quality for alot of (what used to be) good brands.
