Chevy went crazy with a turbo 4 cylinder in their trucks. Cylinder deactivation, dual VVT, direct injection, etc etc. Every bell and whistle that could be added, was added. Aaaaand it still got outperformed in both performance and fuel economy by their 5.3l v8.
