Is a flat response curve always optimal?
White Lightning replied to Jessica's topic in Head Units-Processors and Eq's
RTA meter ... never heard of doing this ... may have to look into it ... -
They don't like "Verses" threads around here ... very understandable too ... I've always liked 4 12s myself ... But we really could use more information on your vehicle application to be able to help you more Sir ...

mids and highs for a zapco dc650.6 any suggestions?
White Lightning replied to slapaddict209's topic in Mid's and highs
you spent the money on the Zapco ... why not stick with Zapco components ?? Just saying ... -
Simple ... get you a external active crossover, or a bad ass headunit with High pass, band pass, low pass, and subwoofer pass selection capabilities ... and BTW, who told you that "overlapping" frequiencies was a bad thing ??

For some reason I found this funny. no real reason to "listen" to the music once the bass hits huh ... Why so many drivers ?? you have a large bass system ?? If so, Sorry guy, I will step out of this one cause I'm a Sound Quality guy ... Best of luck Sir ...

what kind of vehicle limitations do we have to work with ?? (what type of vehicle do you have and what do you have in mind for installation ... Fiberglass, hidden in stock locations) ??

is this for good sounding music like The Eagles or for hair trick music ??

OK ... My reasoning for suggesting the 8" drivers is that in those vehicles, with the bose mounting brackets, it is a simple tradeout install ... everything bolts into place without tearing up your door pannels ... Why buy 2 cheap 6.5" component sets when you can buy 1 bad ass 8" component set with cleaner, more powerful output power ?? You can tear into your door pannels if you wish, I'm only trying to make things easier for you ... 8" component set up front on the front 2 channels, 6.5" component set or coaxals in the back doors on the back 2 channels ... WITHOUT door pannel modification ... keeping it simple Sir !!! In sound quality ... the challenge is to do more with less ... simple ... 2 tweeters in the A-pillars (1 in each a-pillar) to set your stage and image, and run your coaxs in the rear locations ... Now ... as far as running active ... Exactly how much money was you wanting to spend on this project again ???

If it was me ... Knowing Kenwood, I would run those subs free air ... build a baffle, subs firing into the cab of the vehicle, and use the entire trunk for the enclosure ... Next best thing to A-periodic ... Wouldn't be no SPL monster by any means ... But you said "SQ" in your title ... just a suggestion ...

I'm thinking maybe you could go to a junk yard and get you a 8" driver bracket kit for your front doors and make a simple "bolt in" swap before you tear into those door pannels for a pair of 6.5s ... make sure you deaden the shit out of those doors for maximum driver response ...
