  1. Me too I've had my share of anemic charging systems, and learned to go big on that before your equipment. 13-13.5 is still normal and acceptable voltage for daily use, but I personally keep mine above 14. Really 14.8 There's only so much you can do in most cars though. A sundown 4500 should cost between 1000-1500 depending on where you buy and the age, and 2 nice subs to match will probably cost another 800-1000. Lets just be nice and say it's 2,000 for the subs/amp. The 2+ runs of 1/0, dual alt setup, d3400 up front and 2 d3100s I would like to see would also cost around $2000.
  2. On those amps I would do the 12v d3100s. I would use 7-8 of them minimum and at least a dual alt setup, if not more. I've been told not to run 15v+ on those amps, but if you used another amp that's OK with the 16v charging needed for 14v then 10 of the 3400s should be ok.
  3. I've had great CS with Mechman, their product did what it was supposed to, and they're the only alt company I'd do business with again.
  4. You can call XS Power, but it's this price + the extra harnesses if you're doing multiple alts regardless: XS Power VCM
  5. ^this. I would go all out and have something that you can grow into, maybe do 1 sub and 1 amp, then add the 2nd sub and amp down the road if you don't want to spend the money on electrical upgrades right away. If you do 6000 watts I would look for 2 high output alts and a dual bracket, at least 2 runs of 1/0 power and ground, and three d3100s. Chances are that will run you around 1100 for extra batteries, 200 on wire, and 800-1500 on alternators/bracket. It's safe to say $2500 on electrical upgrades to hold 14v. If you go with 3000 watts do 2 d3100s and a good high output alt. I'd still do 2 runs of 1/0.
  6. Depending on how you set your gains your amp will use a lot less power for music than burps. Most music is recorded a lot lower than test tones, like -3 or -6db. Unless you specifically set your gains for music you'll see a lot less output than if you set your gains on 0db test tones. Also music is dynamic, and most people don't sit in traffic like they're bassracing the guy next to them This is why many places recommend 1/2 of an amps rated needs. For instance a super quick rule of thumb is that a 1000 watt amp with a 100 amp fuse rating needs 100 amps. Truthfully they should be fine with half that for music, and short bursts higher than 1/2 power will be made up for during the breaks when there is no bass. You wont see 14v all the time, but should stay in a normal operating range. If you're competing and clamp your amps and know exactly how much power they're pulling, you can say "well I need 300 amps" and have an exact number to go from. If you're the average person who rarely competes and doesn't own a clamp meter than using the quick formula I posted above will be a starting point. Using 1000 watts? Make sure you have at least 50 amps of alternator, using 10,000 watts? Make sure you have at least 500 amps of alternator. That's my opinion anyway. To answer your battery question I like to add a d3100 for every 2500 watts.
  7. I was happy with every enclosure I used with my BTLs in the 5-8 ft range, but once I went down around 4.5 I had issues for daily use. Stick to the 5+ft recommendations and you should be fine. With the power you're using I'd lean towards a larger box.
  8. I don't know if it was mine for sure- I think so- that looks like my writing under the install manual lol. OP can tell you for sure, pretty sure it was mine. I got it from Iraggi and sold it a month or so later, I only opened the box to take pics for sale. I owned an Iraggi quad setup a while back- exact same bracket. Assembled it looks like this: Hope these pics help, GLWS.
  9. Should fit 99+ Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban, and most full sized GM trucks.
  10. I've been very happy with my American Bass amp so far, I'd get that 500.1 and run it at .5 ohm with good charging.
  11. Caricatures or pastels? I had a friend who's parents got some made of him and his siblings when they were 6 years old or so. Like 20 years later they still hang, framed on a wall.
  12. I have a buddy that we're making one for his 4.3. If you can send me a pic of the engine bay I can tell you if his bracket would fit your vehicle. If it does it would be nothing to send you one when it's said and done. If you aren't in a hurry just let me know- [email protected]. Other than that my friend can't find one either, maybe a local machine shop or ask a manufacturer directly. Good luck.
  13. I really hope you don't stick around on this forum buddy. I've been lucky so far, but I run outside with gun drawn when my alarm pages me. I let people who see my car know I carry and I'll go to jail over a few hundred bucks of equipment for the principal of it. Besides, how many will mess with me in the few hours I'm in jail when they find out I'm in there for killing a guy for stealing my cd player? If that's not enough I'll just say it was considered self defense till they saw I skull-fucked the guy All jokes aside, shit sucks man. You're pretty lucky they only took your h/u, and now you get to upgrade.
  14. Fuck you. j/p lol, honestly man a sale is still a huge help. The guy offers one guy a hook up and people run up with hands out. Not busting your balls, but ant gives out a ton of free stuff to people. My brother just got 600 bucks of spl tiles and damplifier pro in, he'll be kicking himself for not seeing that code. That could've been a good bit of extra material!
  15. Many companies offer 1000 watt amps you could strap in a pair for that. Otherwise there are only a few, unless you get like a 4000 @ 1ohm and only use 1/2 power.
  16. Funny story. Ugly as hell. I try to put things in my name too. I don't foresee any problems, but that's the whole point of playing things smart.
  17. I'd sell and get the 2 aq 3500s, but I would not get the ap 3000.1.
  18. Wow, a child star who isn't addicted to drugs or alcohol? I really didn't recognize him lol.
  19. Drive down to Myrtle Beach SC. I'd be the only one but DJ's retardedly loud truck is only 1-2 hours away from me. After that ear raping you won't know if you really like bass that much anymore
  20. Chrome ftw. I have to log in on my phone, but both computers I use often are always logged in. It's your settings.
  21. I had an 11 year old cousin die on a 4-wheeler a few years ago. Really sad, really graphic, and not the only bad experience I know of personally with 4 wheelers. I've known far more people in motorcycle accidents too, regardless of whether they were just slightly injured, permanently handicapped, or killed. Having said that I drive both. I bought a bike, had it a year, then sold it with no regrets. Best defense for me was cost of ownership, and gas savings since 50mpg > 15mpg driving 50 miles a day or more. Personally I think if you ride without safety gear you're stupid, and if you wear the leather and stuff you look like a fag and sweat your balls off in the summer. So when riding a bike you have to ask, "Do I want to get f*cked up in a crash, or look like a pillow-biter in traffic?" Good luck.
  22. I did part of an old box with a layer of resin, then bondo and sanded the crap out of it before painting. It turned out excellent. I was refinishing a floor in my house and had some left over varathane (polyurethane) and put some one some mdf. It dries really smooth, probably 2-3 brushed on coats would be a great surface to paint, though I'm only 1 coat into it now and there's a definite advantage to using that over primer. Just thought I'd try it because sanding that bondo/resin was time consuming as crap, and a bit more expensive if this floor crap works (it works on the floor pretty good lol). A few pics of the fiberglass/bondo method:
  23. I spent hours once designing a box for someone for free, they show up a week later with their "improvements". The damn port was small as crap and cut into the box with a sawzall. Another guy told me if I made some plans he'd get money to build the box. I drew up plans, wasting hours of my life, then he says he'll call in a few weeks when he has cash. Now two months later he's telling people he's louder than me and that I look like a fag. Funny 'cause I have 2 kids (no homo here) and I do what I say I will. Me running 21" Wardens and 10kw with 4 alts > him running walmart deck + cheap hifonics square 12s + 1200 watts with factory charging. When people try to act tough or like they have money to cover how cheap/broke they are makes them look stupid but they're often too arrogant to figure that out. Nothing wrong with being broke- just no need to dick measure with Ron Jeremy.
  24. I prefer the Q. Better power handling with options, better sounding imo. And obviously cheaper.
