  1. So today i was in a little debate with my cousin on car audio since I recently put a system in my car, so I wanted some of your guys' knowledge, preferably well known, respected, people that have experience. I told my cousin that I'd ask some knowledgeable people so here it is. Anyways, does power/ground wire size matter? and why? Should you use speaker wire for power wire? What is the purpose of the gain on an amp? Can you still have distortion when using a LPF? Can you properly tune an amp without knowing where your head-unit distorts? Can you send a clipped signal to a subwoofer? What is a clipped signal? Should you play a song farrrrrrrr below tuning? Can a subwoofer unload in a ported box? Do voltage & amps matter when powering an amp? Can an average human determine 1% distortion? Do acoustics come into play when talking about loudness of a setup? Can you under-power a subwoofer even if "Scoped" or using DD-1? Is ported different than vented & port-holed? Does an amp turn DC current into AC current? Are kicker amps the only amps that do rated power? Do ohms matter when connecting subwoofers? Does wire size increase efficiency? Why don't washer/dryers/dishwashers/microwaves use massive wire if they have 120v & not just 12v? If you guys can answer as many questions as possible I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. It's super late so I can't remember everything that came up but that's a pretty damn big list. -Thanks
  2. When you use the lpf @ 80hz on a song in audacity, is that what the same signal that your sub amp sees?
  3. Hey so will we ever be able to post our slowed & boosted music on here ever again? jw cause I've done a lot of songs lately & wanted to share them with people.
  4. Not unless you're looking to compete in SQ or brag to your friends. Other than that there's really no reason to buy a head unit for a grand. Does look like a fucking awesome HU though. & OP, that car is sweet. Awesome craftsmanship.
  5. I would use Virtual DJ to chop n screw & Audacity to bass boost & EQ
  6. Regulate I think is right around there 52,53 some'n like that. Pretty much any old-school hip hop is in the 50's (Hertz Wise).
  7. no, if you turn up something past flat you are increasing the signal and risking clipping and distortion. and more bands aren't always better. i have a 28 band e.q. and it seems like i am always tweaking something. but i always cut, never boost. Yea, but it should all be good as long as you aren't causing distortion.
  8. Look at the comments, everybody says it must be the SMD forum.
  9. Wouldn't moving up or down on an EQ be the same thing? Say if you have bass, mid, treble & the bass is too overpowering so you turn it down, wouldn't that be the same as keeping the bass the same & turning the mid & treble up. As long as you have a clean signal it shouldn't matter. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a Musical Engineering expert so I could be wrong.
  10. I lol'd @ your "Where?" in the text. & if RE can make a wall for 6 8's in one of these you should easily be able to make a nice ported with 2 dc 8's or something.
  11. ok. yea, I "signed up" I guess with the I am over 18 thing so I guess now I wait lol.
  12. I was just wondering if anybody knew how long you'd have to wait to be able to "enter the +18 zone"?
  13. I'm using Rockford Fosgate 14g Speaker Wire w/ a kill switch & everything works fine, takes a while for the amp to turn on after I flip the switch though. & I've done what C. Director said to do a few time when I used wal mart 18g
  14. I think that's what the best buy here does cause I swear everytime I go in the Kenwood head unit sw level is +15 & bass boost on level 2 (Max) so when you even everything out it's pretty quiet even when using their largest kicker amp which iirc is 1000w. They've just gotta be safe.
  15. This is my first feedback thread so here it goes. Bought a Cache CBR Bass Restorer off of him, he packaged the box very well & snug, shipped extremely fast (less than a week), came with all original parts & even left some funny motivational words on the flaps of the box. Definitely buy from him again & suggest him to anybody that wants to buy something from him.
  16. I've wondered the same thing cause some people with huge systems say they don't need epicenters to play country & spanish loud but I'm only running probably 400-450w rms on 1 12" so after forever of contemplating it, i bought a cache bass restorer (same concept as an epicenter) off of here & hopefully this weekend I'll figure out if i need to save up for a bigger amp or not (hopefully not though.
  17. youtube was being weird for me so I wasn't able to watch your video (try posting the actual video on her instead of a link) but I listened to the song and it's vocals are wayyyyy too quiet & sound little weird but the bass isn't clipped to hell or anything so that's good.
  18. haha at least. So how did you manage to get those for free?
  19. Bump. So I'm thinking of something different, I would DEF have to downgrade on my speaker & amp choices since the MS-8 is so damn expensive but how about - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_26919_PowerBass-Xtreme-2XL-50C.html These running active http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_43421_Rockford-Fosgate-R125-2.html Off two of these (1 for mids & 1 for tweets) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_27642_JBL-MS-8.html?from=20 which will be processed/crossed over through this If anybody has ANY ideas let me know.
  20. After the lowered price, they aren't too far out of my range, I'll have to look into them. Does anybody else have any experience with those JBLs? Edit: Just realized those were 6.5" & it doesn't look like they have em in 5 1/4. Damn!
