He didnt ask whether there would be a difference from switching to amp A to amp B. just because the OP knows what he's doing doesn't mean the friend does. he reads 2000 watts he thinks 2000 watts. but in terms of the OPs question it's been answered enough.

i had the exact same car minus the armrest. sealed 12 with it facing the trunk. if you're not looking to use the whole space. if you're looking for some ideas once you can use the space me and a buddy basically had a plan worked out but, every car is different so take it with a grain of salt. i'd do the single 10 just because you'll need about 1ft^3 sealed and still have a bunch of room. if you do the 2 8s, do ported but through the arm rest slot or just do a normal port box pushed to the back with port firing towards trunk for better "ear" sound. don't take out the rear fill until you use the whole trunk

it depends on your budget, what you want to do, the space you have to work with, the time you want to put into it, and the knowledge you have. you can buy top of the line gear and spend thousands, but if you don't have the space and or time/knowledge it's a wasted effort.
