    I had a very similar problem when I got my dd-1 two days ago.. and havent really looked into much. Curious as to what is the proper way to do this.. My headunit (alpine cda117) was distortion free aswell, but couldn't get a signal or anything what I tried to do my woofers amp (hifonics bxi2610)

    I bought a box pre made, on ebay, for a RE sx 10 I had.. it was about 1.5^3in after displacement. For 125 shipped, I couldn't argue..

    I used screws usally but after a while of removing and rescrewing, they don't keep their strength. I just swapped them for some T bolts and I like them a lot better.. and especially with heavy duty boxes.

    I complete agree with single layer tests like this.. but for the money I triple layer my roof and I got good results, on the other hand never tried anything else. Down fall is I had a real hard time with adhesion on my roof even after I clean and everythng.. maybe if second skin would cut smd members a nicer deal, I would really switch over... jmo.
