I wish people wouldn't believe the size of the sub decides what frequencies it can produce -.-

Also, ever otice the dd-1 manual suggests low lpf settings the bigger the driver is? whats that about?
-
There is just so many different views on this topic that you can back and forth for weeks without a decisive decision. I mean there are 2" 3" and 5" woofers made. Take the Tang Band W3-1876S has a f3 of 50 hz in 0.03 cubes!! Take enough of those at $30 a piece to compare to a 15" and you got one hell of a low end monster. But then you can go back to exactly 1 driver vs 1 driver. Never ends.

Friends dad has a astro van in his back yard that is gutted with a blown engine, could make a great wall project for cheap!

Why is it when i make the port wide and tall it still has to be really long for low tuning? :/

Figuring out ports suck, as I'm finding out, but once you figure it out, it opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.
Will is right, you have to find that happy medium. Thanks Will, good way to put it.
-
Also sometimes it boils down to doing multiple ports at multiple dimensions to figure it out. Round, square, rectangle, whatever. So many out there to experiment with it. It's not like you're ever going to just make one box and be done. Then this wouldn't be fun would it! LOL
-
Didn't see anybody say it here, but increasing port area yields higher tuning, increasing length of port lowers tuning, and vice versa for both
-
Does anyone know how i could calculate the port length but with a triangle? Like a triangle port ha
-
Does tuning below Fs matter since Fs is freestanding and in a box the port controls all the resonance right?

This is assuming a sealed box though. He's referring to ported
-
I need to get some sleep...

Been up too long I can go from ported to sealed all in one thought..
