when u gettin the other sub back?

DD got it on thursday, as soon as I seen it was delivered i was on the phone with them. We went back and forth for a few hours because they wanted $730 or somewhere around there to recone it to match my current sub. needless to say I said that was almost twice what I paid for my last one. I guess cass let me go really cheap and didnt charge me somethings such as labor and some other crap. My first recone was a little over $480. After Brad went back through my old order he said that Cass had messed up, I then asked to deal with him again for my new recone and was informed he no longer worked there. :( A few more calls back and forth and I said that I cannot spend that money for a recone, because that is just insane and I could by a new stock 9518 for the same price. I had no problem with throwing my sub up on ebay and running with another company at the time. I told him I wanted 2 18s walled in my backseat by the 3x point event at dropfest. I was informed that DD uses a new composite cone that is woven together now, and the colors are not died when Brad called me back. He also stated that they had a matching older style cone like mine that would idenically match but was spoken for (but I somehow got it). Friday afternoon my bank account was tapped for $460 if I remember right (about $20 cheaper then my first recone). They dont build speakers until you pay for them so they dont get screwed, so Im hoping it will be shipping out monday, but Im gonna call tomorrow to make sure and see whats up....

And who says Digital designs customer care sucks? (I forget names but I always read it so much on all the forums) I think I am getting one hell of a deal for both my recones... DD FTW They stood by their customer (me) and worked with me and made me happy :)

That is why. My first thing I did was removed my two center ports so I could get my arms in their and taped a plastic bag up around the magnet. I did not want dust flying into the vents and getting trapped in my coils and causing damage since my box was built inside the car it had to be cut up to be removed.

Just a few more pics....

They are owned by the same family. I have no idea how the story goes. Pretty much audioques speaker technology is just a little behind dd. Both are great companies. Tho audio que speakers are built overseas I think but not sure.

Well today I started getting things ready for my wall. I was hoping to start part of the wall, but got rained out.

At least I got my new rca's ran, rewired a lot of other things in my car, gutted the old wiring, and wiring that was no longer in use, etc.

I also got my back seats tore out :)

Posted Image

Posted Image

The dash ripped apart with old wires comming out, 3 sets of rf rca's going byebye and being replaced with some custom made double shielded and loomed cables made by megalomanic.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Some crazy yellow wires that the previous owner had ran from the dash to the trunk, no idea what they where used for, too me it looked like clutter so chop chop and away they go.

The data cable for my headunit, and the rca's getting ready to go in.

Wires being ran, there is a plastic shield that you can run wires in, the stock wires in the car are ran through this, but the previous owner just ran the wires under the carpet. I took the extra 5 minutes to pop the clips off and ran the new wires where they would be protected, and not bulge the carpet!

just a front shot of the car, I need a new front bumper, driving thru snow banks this past winter messed mine up LoL!

Posted Image

new cables ran in the dash, starting to put things back together with no clutter :)

Wiring some crap up in the trunk..

Just a temp layout for now.

Oh and my new door pods, wrapped in matching upholstery as my pillers, and headliner. Tho I still got to wrap my driver door pod and put it on the car.

Damn bro I dunno how I slept on this one...been missin out till now!

Them doors llok great! good job. (nice use of the easy bake oven for reals hahaha)

On the embedded wood pieces....did you use those as "reinforced mounting points" and srcew/bolt through them to mount the pods to the panel? or are they just to reinforce the back panel and help fight flex?

Also-when you're first laying the "mould" of the oem door panel, it looks like a LOT or resin compared to glass mat...am I trippin? is it just the pics? or did you skimp on the glass? it's not TOO big og a deal but I'd be sure to put a good 3-5 solid layers of mat there to avoid warping/cracking. The woven matt you have pictured...I would (and do) just cut it into pieces and lay it down...the chopp mat (bigger haphazard strands) is the stuff you wanna tear up into shreds and layup/wetout for strength.

Those "sponge brushes" also SUCK for FG resin, you really only get one application and then they just start coming apart...if you can manage to score some BRUSHES, you can use them a good 5+ times b4 they're trashed because THEY will tolerate being SOAKED in ACETONE in between uses to dissolve the resin off and go back to being nice and soft. Just FYI-in case you hate one time using stuff like I do.

Once again nice job on the doors man. Clean, original, and that angle is prolly gonna help the front staging.

Im tuned in now to see how this wall build goes.
