Things that piss you off in the Car Audio world.

I hate when your trying to help someone build a system for their truck, but they want way too much out of what little space they have. Also the same person don't know what ohm load the coils are and can't bring the subs with them so I can measure them, yet they want me to help them pick out an amp for their system.

Applying Sound deadening all over the place but still havein some annying rattle that you cant locate.

The price of high output alternators, but the price is worth it in the end.

Lastly everybody and their obsession with Kicker.

You need some type of foam behind the panels. Something like luxury liner or the pro version offered by second skin.

Or some type of foam matters top

That should kill the rest of your rattles

many things....

when i plan to spend $500 to upgrade my bass, mids, and highs and then as i start reading on SMD to learn how my budget slowly creeps up to like $2000...lol

when my friend accidentally breaks my rca's to my mono amp and then the new ones take a whole 3 days to get here (no bass for 3 days....)

then when my new rca's get here my rca's for my 4 channel amp randomly decide to take a shit on me the same day and then there is another 3 days!

when i order something and realize as soon as i open the box that i shouldn't have went cheap on that part..

when you get excited as hell that you found a good deal on the exact sub you want and then UPS breaks it despite the beefy ass wooden crate (and denies it being their fault).

when you look at the UPS tracking for an item you are needing to start your build and realize that it was SOOO close to you and then they sent it in the opposite direction and then all the way back to you

UPS

the fact that this website exists. if it wasn't for you guys showing me what's really out there i would have just gotten a kicker l7/prefab box and put it on my old boss amp and i would have been happy! :P hahahaha!

the fact that i drove around for a long time (over a year) with my 12 in a sealed prefab box...... i just recently built a custom ported box and it got twice as loud!!!

the fact that my neighbors probably think i smuggle cocaine with all the custom panels i've been building for my trunk in my back yard

planning out my budget and then realizing i forgot to add 1/0 wire to that, and then realizing how much good wire costs!

the fact that i only have a left hand and there is no possible angle i can reach the inside of my left door panel wire boot with my hand

when a piece of equipment is BRAND NEW and is defective out of the box

yeah...i could go on all day...lol

^LOL.

Here's how it really is: Build it to spec unless you know better. What the manufacturer recommends isn't gonna be worse than prefab, and if you know what will work better for your purpose why the fuck are you so upset?

Let people build what they want. If they want to remain uneducated and build it to spec, let 'em. It'll lower the average and your build will be better.

I did follow Kicker's spec when it came to the box size, but I have a little lower tuning than they want, think they reccomended 37hz. They also said run 300 rms, I'm running 900 rms lol
If you could do it again, I bet you'd build a lil bit bigger, wouldn't you. Point was, why hate people who build to spec? Now if you wanna argue against custom spec over OEM spec for a particular purpose... That's a bit different. There's not a reason to go against spec unless you know what you do differently is gonna do for your sound.

Building bigger and tuning lower doesn't work for every sub out there, either.

If I could rebuild the box again on the power I'm running, I would tune a little higher, and make the little bit smaller since my sub moves so much, the cone hits the basket. But I'm about to get a new pair of woofers to work :) Gonna try out a sonotube for the next box

see, you do know what you'd do different. That's the point I was getting at LOL

Just because you can change your box to dump more power into the coils, does that mean it'll be louder? I don't think so. If your sub is moving it's full excursion it's moving as much air as it can.

when you build it for the house, you're gonna love it tuned to Fs.

2007 Pacifica
Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
