allright I got a customer that is looking todo a real nice SQ system in a 2005 Ford F250 4 door truck.

from what I have seen of the truck there is no space for sub/subz

under the rear seat of the truck he has a memphis belle 5 channel amp its freaking HUGE it goes from door to door.

basicly the area under the rear seat is pretty much out of the question.

he is open to suggestions but told me WE cannot cut the truck so a blow through is outa the question, so the only thing I could come up with was either A under the Dash or a center console enclosure, either way it has to be a shallow mount sub because their is just no room, and to be honest I havent ever heard a SQish shallow mount sub.

so If you have ever done a install/build in one of these trucks I need to pick your brain ;)

thanks in advance

David

Subs in the rear doors.

1 or 2-8's per side.

I did a 2000ish Dokdge Dakota Quad cab and same scenario-ZERO room under seats and no willingness to mod the truck.

I glassed the door panels and built out right to where the rear seat starts and up to the backs of the front seat.

I managed .75cft on each side and was gonna run an audiobahnn 1000watt 10" sub in each door.

The pods stuck out QUITE a bit but it was all glassed worked quite well IMO.

I can post some pics if need be for a better idea of what I'm talkin bout.

Rear doors, 4-8's and call it a day.

~2cents.

David,

I will definatley be interested to see what you come up with. I am in the same situation. I really want to do an SQ setup in my truck, but being that I trade out vehicles every 3 years, I absolutely cannot cut the truck up and screw it's resell value up.

I have been looking at different setups since I got my current truck and I can say that the trucks nowadays have absolutely no extra space at all...which sucks.

Here's a couple of thoughts that I have been working with on my truck.

1) behind my backseat there is about 4 inches of foam and insulation. So I could easily cut out some of that material and mount some amps back there. The issue that I have is finding an amp that has a side mount fan to keep air flowing through it.

2) Can you put some square tubbing under the mounts on the back seat and raise it up to give you more space underneaath. With my truck this is doable, but it makes the seatbelts inoperable, so I have to rig something up to make them work.

One other item that you might want to look into is the electrical system. I was working with some mechanics that I know and another issue with my truck is that the alternator has a signal wire going to the ecm..where as aftermarket alternators do not. So if I replace my alternator with a non oem unit, i get a check engine light. So I am forced to put in multiple alternators and have a stage of batteries, in which I again don't have room for...lol

I'm tempted to just go buy a civic to have as a beater for tunes..lmao

The factory sub location is 1- 8" in a box behind the driver side, under the seat. What my boss and I did, we came up with a really small sealed enclosure for 2- 10s, and it worked great. It was musical, not to boomy , but great for rock, techno, ect. But the cone area helped with the lows 2-10s in a 0.8cf spot

These are the subs we used.

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

i have a friend who has a 4 door Harley Davidson editon f150 and he gutted the center console, made a box in it and put a p3 shallow mount, and then did the same for the back. Went to a junkyard abd bought a center counsole and glassed on it.

Hes got it downfiring, and a port near the bottom on both...

Sounds really good
